How long do signature bookmarks last?

Greetings fellow space travellors!

I've been reading about probing and exploration and came across this in the Wiki:

Quote:
The result will stay at 100% scan strength until you leave the system, dock at a station or disconnect from Eve.

I'm planning on using a Heron for scanning and then using my Cormorant for the combat & looting side of things, but it sounds like after I scan and return to my station to switch ships, the signature will have disappeared! Is that right?

If so, how do you use two different ships for scanning and then combat/looting?

Thanks!
Jake

*Edit**
Just reading some more about how a Cormorant can be used as an all-in-one T1 exploration ship. If you think this is a good idea and would be better than running backwards and forwards with two ships, can you recommend a fit?

By actually going to the location and bookmarking it. Just scanning it does not make it a bookmark.

Or, more easily, you could just right click -> Bookmark in the scan window...

For an all-in-one exploration fit, you need have a core probe launcher, and depending on what sites you want to run, appropriate mods (codebreaker, analyzer...)

The main downside is that combat ships are not good at probing. With covops V, you get a 50% scan strength bonus from the hull alone, plus gravity capacitor rigs which are another 10% each.

Depending on how good you are at probing, and how far you have to travel to find a site to run (If you're in busy hisec, expect to travel a lot and thus two ships is less efficient), both methods can work.

Yes, don't go to the location, that can despawn some sites, just click the 100% signal and bookmark it from there.

Nope. Unless the site is 'completed', it will not despawn immediately upon warpout. Warping in does start a 72 hour despawn timer, however.

Note that a radar/mag site is 'completed' as soon as you start to hack one of the cans.
