I am currently getting interested in Eve again and when i used to play i could play with almost no lag on the same computer im using now. I just started this trial in order to check if i can even play this on my comp anymore. What happened was i still have a little lag, playable, but very annoying. It may be because the game is getting enhanced or because my 5yr old comp is getting worse.

I am just wondering whether or not there are any more ways to decrease lag other than turn all the graphics down and some of the settings off. I am going to defrag my comp tonight and try to clear some stuff off my hardrive in order to improve performance. In the mean time, if anyone has any ways to decrease lag, im all eyes.

Whats your system specs? The only time I experienced lag was when running the game on a laptop without a dedicated graphics card. Normally its not a very demanding game.

yeah, switch the graphics from "all on high" (where I believe it defaults) to medium or low. should fix the (in space) issues you have. I don't ever load the CQ (ship spinning is WAY too fun ... and it has a counter now!), so I don't know how much it'll help there.

I'm currently playing on a pretty sh** laptop, hoping that the holidays will allow me to land a good deal on a gaming rig.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

EDIT: nvm im getting lag everywhere... i just don't understand how i used to be able to play without any problems like a year or so ago, and now its lagging everywhere i go. Same computer, same everything.

A more detailed posting of your system specs is required in order for any of us to give any kind of useful advice. Beyond that, it would also be helpful if you were more clear in describing your problem. "Lag" when used on its own with no context usually refers to network latency (or in some cases lack of bandwidth), however it sounds like you are experiencing low frames per second, or long texture call times. The former is normally caused by things that are out of your control (Beyond swapping to a better ISP), where as the later can be solved by upgrading specific computer components or altering game settings.

There was a time where I had to log on from a completely crap computer. I basically played from the star map. Not sure if that still works but you could always give it a try if you need to move from place to place and don't care about the pretty colors.
