2014-08-12 EveKit Beta Status

Updates:

- Three weeks into the beta, thanks again to all participants!
- Looks like a few big corporations joined up. This has been great for testing!
- IndustryJobHistory sync'ing was added over the weekend. These calls are only used to update industry jobs which have finished.
- A few other minor bugs and tweaks were added over the last week.

Next Steps:

- The corporation account syncs are clearly slower (which makes sense). I'll be spending the next week adding instrumentation to see where I can tune for performance.
- I've already added some caching for wallet transactions which has helped significantly.

Interesting stats for the last 7 days:

- 16 users are now participating in the beta with auto synchronized accounts.
- 20 EVE accounts are synchronizing on an automatic basis.
- 7631 account synchronizations have been performed in the last week (about 1090/day)
- Average sync time: 4.8 minutes
- Min: 0.23 minutes
- Max: 136.8 minutes
- 99%: 23.6 minutes
- 95%: 10.1 minutes
- Median (50%): 0.76 minutes

2014-08-19 EveKit Beta Status

Updates:

- Week four of the beta, thanks again to all participants!
- Mostly treading water this last week although corporation sync times have improved due to better caching.
- Better instrumentation added so I can identify hot spots.

Next Steps:

- Will import crius 1.9 DB this week.
- Working on sync procedures for SiSi in case anyone wants to sync against test data.
- Probably a few minor UI changes to clean up some rough bits.
- More sync tuning. I'd like to drive down the 95% time for CORP to under 10 minutes if possible.

- 18 users are now participating in the beta with auto synchronized accounts.
- 22 EVE accounts are synchronizing on an automatic basis.

Updates:

- Week five of the beta, thanks again to all participants!
- Blueprint API sync added. You'll need to change your EveKit access key on the "access key" view in order to see this data.
- Static DB updated to Hyperion 1.0.
- Upped the limit to 5 sync accounts per user (any combination of capsuleers or corporations). Bring on the alts!
- Planning to exit the beta in about two weeks.
- Stats look a bit wonky due to the EVE DDoS attack last week.

Next Steps:

- Ironing out one last stability issue which should also improve sync times.

- WE PLAN TO EXIT BETA SOMETIME NEXT WEEK!
- Performance is roughly the same as last week. Not surprising since we've been focusing on the web UI, not the backend.

Next Steps:

- In the middle of a major rewrite of the web UI to make things cleaner and easier to use.
- Once the web UI upgrade is done, we'll focus on videos and tutorials. Many of the recent questions on this forum about pulling data into things like Google docs have very easy answers using EveKit.
- Looking for suggestions as to what others might like to see. One thing we're investigating is making EveKit support the graphite REST API. This would allow one to attach tools like grafana directly to EveKit for building your own dashboards.
