Eve is dying and all that, but let's be honest for a moment. If STO is still alive and kicking (releasing a new expansion), then eve probably has at least another ten years in it.

Wasn't that he WoD office actually? Since they canceled that, it makes sense they would close the office.

Hey TMC, how about a citation.. or are these things optional for your writers?

Considering it's SF, they probably got some ridiculous salary just to afford cost of living.

What's a company homed in Iceland doing with an office in one of the most expensive cities on the West Coast?

Heck one month's rent on that office could probably have been used to pay a designer for a new Imicus model FFS.

Yes there is a bit of a malaise about the game that's for certain but I don't think it will kill the game. CCP has plenty of time to recover it. We'll know by December.

i have to say, of all the responses i've ever had to threads under all my different alts over the last 6 years, being lumped in with TMC as a "click baiter" is the absolute funniest dumbass comment ever.

I think I'm beginning to figure out who the CCP shills are...

Maybe the question you should be asking yourselves is, how is it that CCP can make so many decisions that turn so bad so often?

Nope, nothing click bait-y about that thread title. Roll

If you aren't doing it for TMC, you are doing it for attention, either way, it's sad, and just makes this "EVE is dying!" thread #9875309. If you really think CCP will allow a real discussion here about their many, many, many³ bad decisions, you haven't really been around for 6 years, or haven't been paying much attention.

Well, I clicked it because when i saw "Circling the Drain" as the title I assumed it was about TEST's imminent expulsion from Hero.

sigh... that only proves there are not tons of people logging in at the same time, it doesn't in fact, show the subs. As you do not know how many accounts are paying and doing long skill training. For example when my wife had our son i took a year off, but i paid for all of my 4 accounts for a full year. So i was still a customer i just did not log in. Thats the problem with the graph it really gives you no relevant data when it comes to 'eve is dying'

I read through that from one of the comments in the OP's article, it paints a pretty dismal picture.

My issue with this site, is that most of the 'reviews' are from Atlanta, which is clear they did not know what to do with WoD. So ofc they are gonna be annoyed.

Just wait a couple of months. When the next mini-expansion blows up who knows what. When the player base realizes that their gameplay is going to get sand-bagged every two months, there is nothing but bright skies and unicorns for the future of this game!

May I have your stuff?

I'll grant you that the general readership of the article doesn't really have a way of confirming that the linked document and pastebin translation are authentic. That said, assuming that it is authentic, the citation is given in the article (English translation linked):

Quote:

A post popped on Reddit today linking to a semi-annual financial statement from CCP. Within it is revealed that CCP plans to close its San Francisco office.

It states quite clearly in that document that CCP's profits are down compared to the same period last year, and that they have incurred several costs associated with terminating the WoD project that are contributing the majority share to those lowered profits. I'd say that constitutes "poorer than expected financial performance of the company," which would definitely be a driving force behind the decision to close a local office. Taken literally, no, there's nothing there explicitly saying that CCP's lowered profits are the reason behind the closure, but anyone who's ever worked in a corporate environment (I currently do) can reasonably come to that conclusion, because that's how corporations work. "Profits are down? OK, where can we cut costs to make up the difference?"

Regardless, the author makes it pretty clear that he's making the assumption that the document is authentic, hence the phrase "seems to be" in your quoted text. I guess I'm not really sure what else you're expecting...
