If it was downtime, then it also "dced" the rats.

Obviously Im talking about pve fit in a thread about pve golem. Apart from few specific missions mjd is useless, if you are jumping around with mjd just for the sake of jumping, you are gimping yourself.

Ok then what is everyones preferred marauder?
I do like the golem myself but this is my first marauder so am not in a position to compare. Is this ship really a sheep in wolf's clothing?

Mine is paladin. Great dps, great damage projection, decent tank, doesnt have to use target painters, doesnt have to use combat drones to kill frigs and its damage is instant. It is somewhat limited to amarr space though.

So let me be crystal clear. I DC'd in the mission "The Assault" with at least a dozen rats shooting at me. The server stayed up but people were unable to log in; the rats attacked my ship and the ship went into armor but not hull.

I sent the first message from a phone and was unable to articulate properly.

I've used both the Paladin and Golem...

The Paladin is awesome against EM weak rats in Amarr space. It instapops most frigates at range and it pretty much awesome. It's downside is against non EM weak rats damage application is meh. It's massive DPS will still overcome this but it's just not as spectacular.

The Golem is awesome against pretty much any NPC because you can change damage types. It's downsides are damage to frigates isn't spectacular and it uses target painters so you have to push more than one button. This can be a problem for some but I've managed to get used to the multiple button thing. I prefer it in non Amarr space due to the damage selection.

I find the pally is very weak against Angels, and the Golem is mildly weak against angels. Both are excellent against all other types. It took me quite a while to get used to maximizing the Pallys DPS compared to the golem. The golem is just point and click easy. Niether the pally or the golem are great in Minmatar space compared to a Vargur or Machariel, but both excel at all 3 other Empires, the Golem most in Caldari space and the Pally most in Amarr.

As far as Golem Vs. frigs is concerned, the fit I posted is the bees knees. 1 tp + 1 webber plus drones annihilate frigs while your furys and the other TP are wasting BC's and BS's. Also, precision missiles with both TP's for mopping up missions with an overabundance of frigs.

Also mjd on golem? Seriously? Hey guys, we have weapon system here with delayed damage so lets make the delay even bigger, operate painters in falloff and lose the ability to loot/salvage/kill frigs with drones despite the fact that we can tank every mission with med booster.Roll

In my opinion, the Golem is one of the best ships to put an MJD on. You don't even have to turn the launchers off when you use it. Just maneuver freely according to the current order of battle.

waste of a slot that could be used for a painter instead. Seriously I'm pretty sure with a pithum c-type med booster and t2 invlun the thing has more tank then needed for almost any mission, and the ones it doesn't you only need to pay the slightest attention to triggers.

at least with 2x missile velocity rigs you don't have to worry about volley counting out to 100km or so.

+1 for paladin. mostly for the insane damage projection. the huge base cap is another awesome thing. Kicks the butt out of bloods, sanshas, mercs, drones, EoM (hits everything in Gone Berserk with multfrequency at the warp in lulz!) Does alright against Serpentis, kinda sucks vs angels and Guristas.
