It really is very humbling. Our whole galaxy could be snuffed out tomorrow and the universe wouldn't bat an eyelash.

Was at a talk for kids at the Museum of Natural History last weekend. The topic was space exploration, and the Ph.D. guy said the scientific community is designed a manned mission to Mars. But only a one-way trip for the people-- the equipment couldn't include a return vehicle. Kids from age 2 to about 12 there, and the faces looked like this:

Wow. That video makes everyone else's problems seem even pettier and more insignificant than I thought possible.

that's the thing most people don't have the under standing to know now little they truly mean, the world's resources could be spent is such a grander way than making the next Iphone or making some rich tycoon richer,

BUT, look at what we have done to this world in are selfishness, can you say with all honesty that you would wish to unleash the plague that in humanity at this time in to the universe?

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

I need to keep this around for the next time so heavily religious person starts bugging me. are you saying that all of this was made for some race of beings on an insignificant speck next to a tiny star, in an arm of a relatively insignificant speck of a galaxy? and he never made anything else?

No, you got it wrong. It was made for a unique spiritual "race" or entities, that can settle down here and there to have a material experience. A wise man said: "we are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spirits having a human experience".
So even if the whole galaxy will wipe out, we are not affected by this, matter is an illusion anyways.

Maybe for the same reason, you play an mmorpg: to experience a new realm, learn in it some specific laws of that realm, to grow in power and advance.
The body offers me the right tools to perceive this realm: for example eyes, that make it possible to see a certain spectrum of reflecting photons (light), ears to perceive something we call sound etc. Without that there simply isn't a comparable interaction between me and that material realm, so it's basically a useful tool.
Mmorpgs are actually a good analogy: imagine you want to play an mmo. You can't do that unless you create a character that interacts with the mmo within it and log in into that character. It has to play by the rules of that specific mmo realm and is very limited compared to you, but you still can learn certain aspects by playing it. Being human is not much different, you log in into a human life, that lets you see the universe in a certain way (matter, time, space etc.) and when you done with it, you (you = not your physical you but the spiritual being that you actually are) move on.

Awesome video.

If anyone here is interested in a more hands-on exploration on this scale, you should look into a computer program called Celestia. http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

It's open source, 100% free, and is constantly being updated with current astronomical databases. You can watch the shadow of the moon pass over the surface of the earth during predicted and past solar eclipses, or even do the same for Jupiter and its moons. Wander through the stars and see how the Big Dipper would look from another star, light-years away. You can also download data packages that add other info to the program, like the flight path of various space probes, or the locations of hundreds and hundreds of man-made satellites.

Right on.
More on this point of view is in these:
Paramahansa Yogananda, Autobiography of a Yogi Hindu Vedic philosophy turns out to have surprisingly sophisticated "modern" insights fit right into current physics theory. Our universe is just "a" universe, not "the" universe. And Paramahansa is a master psychonaut and just a really nice guy.

Sal Rachele, Earth Changes and 2012: Messages from the Founders Sure, sounds hokey. But has a really intriguing explanation of the universe and its purpose. Basically, this dimension was created with a certain set of rules of physics and cause and effect. Organic life and freedom of choice were launched into it as a kind of project. The human body and mind are ideal vehicles for experiencing the rules of cause and effect, so as to gain greater knowledge of the “spiritual” side of the universe as a whole.
