"Let's have an honest discussion HOW AWESOME SCANNING IS"

So back in the day I put forth a theory about SCANNING being **** (Wormholes as Anomalies) and people were quite unhappy saying that scanning is mandatory, little did i know that this arguement was fought on the verge between good and evil and it seems the latest edition have finally put the "scanning" part of wormholes more towards the evil side.

Well that is interesting??? As for the understanding of COMMON Wormhole the arguement was always SCANNING IS IMPORTANT (well of course) but what made it fun was the team work when you talked to your friends.
With even more "bureaucratic" scanning work now it seems that people are REAALLY PLEASED about this....

So I ask you this question again.

Does Scanning represent the core of wormhole space or the shiddylegwork you have to do to enjoy eve with your friends?

scanning is the single most important part of WH space.
without it, it's just kspace with random dest gates.

I removed your comment about forum moderation, and to answer the question about scanning, I agree with Jack that scanning is one of the key features that separates the wormholer from other players, as it is intended to be a requirement for the everyday life of the wormholer. Other areas in the game don't need to scan to leave home, and for many groups, that is still the case for wormholers (Some larger groups have people who scan, and some who don't; but for other groups, scanning is part of the lifestyle).

Can we also have an honest discussion of why nullsec players can't seem to wrap their heads around simple w-space concepts like the importance of scanning?

There are just a few basic things that set wspace apart from the rest of EVE:

1) routes are transient (i.e. holes are not permanent, and you must scan to find them)
2) life is not self-sustaining (i.e. if you want to live there you have to leave to bring in fuel and export harvested loot)
3) you never know who is watching you (no local, ever)

Changing any of those would ruin wspace. Everything else is just details.
