Atlanta (Decatur) Player Gathering! - 30/08/2014

Hey guys,

It's about that time of the year again for DragonCon, and as such, we'll be hosting a player gathering at Mac McGee's in Decatur again this year on Saturday, August 30th, 2014Big smile

Our staff at CCP North America should be arriving for around 2pm for drinks and fun times, so head on over for an evening of drinking and good company Cool

You can find everything you need to know about Mac McGee's here, and the location here, right next to Decatur Station.

We hope that players from the local area, and those who are in town for DragonCon will join us Big smile

I'm going to certainly try and be there for the meet up, although I won't be attending Dragon Con at all this year

Why, Why Decatur again? The convention is in Atlanta!

Not everyone has a vehicle, the money or the time to get all the way out to Decatur, why does CCP keep announcing the meetup there? There are plenty of great places downtown.

I'm kind of disappointed guys.

Thats a dumb reason, why not drive the extra half hour to accomidate thier fans/paying customers?

MacMcGees is 50 feet from the Decatur Marta station. You can get to MacMcGees without worrying about parking/driving from anywhere in the greater ATL area within 30 minutes. There are abundant Marta stations all throughout downtown.

This is a much better solution that finding a place that will require driving/parking. Keep in mind that DragonCon is going to have the downtown area packed full (no parking). Additionally there is the Falcons home game that same weekend. Good luck finding ANY place to hold an event downtown that weekend.

Considering the above, MacMcGees has been and remains a great solution.

Pay for the parking like everyone else and support your own economy. The only reason this gathering is even occurring is because of the convention, so you might as well actually have it at the convention. No need for reservations or anything fancy, everyone just crash a bar and sit on it as if it were the Tama gate. There's your great solution. MacMcgee's is a great solution for those it is convenient for, no one else.

If this is being done because of DragonCon wouldn't it make sense doing it somewhere actually near DragonCon not 30+ minute Marta ride away? The Vortex is 1 or 2 Marta stops down and an awesome location or even some place closer? Decatur is not exactly spitting distance to Peachtree Center.

I'll stop in for a couple hours (give or take). Because I'm a lazy *******, that'll probably be the first thing I do Saturday before heading to the con for a few more hours.

Can we bribe them to put the AT on the TV at the bar, or will one of us nerds need to bring something to watch it on?

I thought you guys would be there from 2pm to midnight, not bail to dragon con after less than 2 hours :(
we arrived around 3:40 and no CCP people were found! had to leave around 6pm, was fun but no CCP :(
