maybe not too unorthodox but why not just 1 of each cloaky recon plus bait t3?

I like this, but seems like the Pilgrim is kind of made useless by the other 3 because it will have to get in close with the neuts. Maybe a stealth bomber for some DPS instead. Alternatively, drop the rapier and arazu for more Pilgrims and neuts. No cap = no warp, though you should probably still have some tackle.

this is true, i keep forgetting it's the curse that has the range bonus not the pilgrim

falcon
2x pilgrim
1x rapier
bait t3
?

falcon and rapier hang at range while the bait tackles for the pilgrims?

You could have a heavy neut curse or two (which can drain out to something like 80km Shocked). For racialequality funtimes, you could bring a.....cloaky rail proteus? That just sounds wrong... If the cloak is droppable, maybe a good old fashioned RR domi, or sniper Talos/Mega for dps.

You can throw any kind of mix match gang together you want and call it unorthodox.. However the problem becomes is it capable of doing much other than providing KMs for your opposition.

With a small gang you need a few factors things going for you, DPS, ability to engage / disengage and ability to stay safe once a large gang is hunting you. Ability to travel should also not be overlooked. A gang of recons just doesn't have the DPS needed to kill anything before 20 others jump in yo gank you. Recons are not DPS platforms they are EW support, so they are missing one of the key ingredients.

The Pilgrim is capable of killing some "lone" BS but it typically takes you a while, and by the time you add in decent DPS to the other Recons you have effectively gimped their EW capabilities.

It's why I used the bombers as DPS with the Recon gangs I ran. Most of the time we just had 3 bombers but after using the gang a few times there was just no way of getting around the need for a anti frig ship.. The bombers became useless the moment a frig came on grid.

Now another set up we toyed with using to expand the target capabilities was Rapier, Arazu & 3 Nanno Drakes with Cloaks. Drakes tend to be the only BC that works well with a cloak as you have a useless high slot most of the time anyway. The locking speed issue isn't much of a factor as the Arazu & Rapier are doing the tackle.

Everyone laughs at cloaks on non cloaky ships, but TBH it allows you to travel through low sec for instance and get past larger gangs and it allows you the ability to keep your gang hidden once you reach your hunting grounds. 2 bombers will still put out more DPS however the 3 Drakes expand your target range and amount of ships you can take on and allow you to lose the anti frig support in exchange for another BC. It also allows you the ability to use one of the BC's as scout in the next system if you are gate camping.

Spider-tanking and Nano are contradicting.

I have always wanted to try a griffin fleet. T2 MAPC makes it just a little more awesome.

[Griffin, Hugs]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II

ECM - Spatial Destabilizer II
Warp Scrambler II
Medium Azeotropic Ward Salubrity I
Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters

125mm Gatling AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Foxfire Rocket
Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Foxfire Rocket

Small Particle Dispersion Augmentor I
Small Particle Dispersion Augmentor I
[empty rig slot]

Warrior II x1

5 of those will do about 350 DPS and racial jam strength over 9. Even with cheap T1 junk this could be fun.

I used to fly one of those, but it was soley ECM tanked. Meaning no MAPC, but a distortion amp, and no tackle/shields but more jammers. Cool

Surprised noone has went with the normal PL tactic, I hear it works wonders?

Apparently you get like 1 frigate with a cyno and just drop supercaps on people! Brilliant!

For those of you who missed that, that's:
1x frigate (cyno fit)
4x supercap
