Any tips for an aspiring pirate?

Hello everyone!

I came back to EVE after a couple of years hiatus (starting a new account) and have since decided to work towards a career in pirating.

Now I am aware that I should join a corp for the best learning experience, but I prefer to play by my own rules in a small wolf pack kind of setting - just a band of best banditos causing some mayhem :P

I have trained up my skills to the point where I feel comfortable taking on this sort of career. Flying my trusty Atron until I'm comfy moving up.

I want to start by terrorizing bears in hi sec (move to low sec later), so anything that can help coercing them into attacking me so I can blast them into little bits would be much appreciated!

There is always awoxing. Join a corp and open fire! Scan down mission runners, steal loot and hope they shoot at you for it. If you've trained up your catalyst skills you could bring the gospel and do the good work of James315. Possibilities are endless.

Nah this is my main, my alt will be grinding mining and trading just to ensure I have ISK to burn.
Unless that's somehow a point of concern?

For that type of activity, check out the Belligerent Undesirables channel in game, get yourself awoxing (as a new character it'll be super easy to get recruited) and start causing chaos!

Why does it matter? I'm open on the forums about what I do, and I still get recruited. I figure if I get recruited while being open about my motivations on the forum, the people who recruited me deserve what is coming to them. Psychotic Monk still gets accepted into corps occasionally after all.

Why do you need a TLDR? It's 3 ******* sentences. Jesus. OP it seems like Gadon believes that 3 sentences is too long for you to be want to read the whole thing. That doesn't say much about his opinions of you. As to CCP removing it, I highly doubt it. They might remove neutral logi, which I'd be fine with, but awoxing is unlikely to go anywhere.

The trick to being a good "pirate" (and I do use that term loosely) is to find the right balance between target selection, desired effort, potential fun, and likely consequences. There is a wide spectrum of ways in which to engage in combat (wardecs, duels, station games, flag games, AWOXing, suicide ganking, or just flat-out shooting people), and each offer their own unique set of challenges and rewards. Try them out and see which one fits you best.

Personally, I do a mix of losec, wardecs, and the occasional suicide gank. And just because I'm an equal-opportunity offender, I will sometimes fly around in a logistics ship and rep ships being shot at just to mess with whoever is shooting at them. I like my sec status too much to suicide gank often and I enjoy the benefits of a one-player corp far too much to get into AWOXing, but I do understand their appeal.

I seem to have convinced some people that I'm "anti-pirate" by posting ways to counter suicide ganking, but this is not the case. I'm just trying to keep the gankers from getting bored; I don't much care if their targets get blown up or not.

Just the reaction of it all sinking in, they let little 'ol me into their secret places, I destroy everything. ^_^

And let's be honest, sociopathic tendencies are far much more easy and FUN than being a hi-ho go-getter off on another mission to bring ores and valuables to the people of New Eden! :D
