To put it as politely as possible the EVE forum software is a hot mess. The site performs horribly. The JS is slow, bloated and dysfunctional. You all know what PVE and PVP are, and today I would like to bring awareness to what I like to refer to as PVF (Player vs. Forums). PVF occurs whenever you have to combat the forum software to either locate information or post. A post that is not mangled, molested, duplicated or simply erased by the software can usually only occur consistently if the player employs browser plugins, uses an external editor for copy-pasta, or recites some mantra of their favored Deity while praying what comes out on the other side resembles what they carefully typed out.

This is not to mention the various other anomalies, quirks, inconsistencies, and incomplete items many of you run into here every day. Hmm, I can click on a Blue DEV marker next to a thread and jump to the DEV post and the next, ad infinitum. How about the GM marker.. Nope, nada, kaput.

We have PLEX for Good, do we perhaps need PLEX for Forums? With your help it might just be possible to wipe out PVF in this decade.

edit: this is satire, intended to bring attention to the shameful state in which CCP has allowed their forums to rot. If you do want to purchase and donate PLEX to this cause, I'd be happy to send you my affiliate link. The previous statement is also satire.

It is sort of sad, that I can't even remember when was the last time my post wasn't molested by the forums in some way. I'm definitely supporting this in spirit, but I'm not willing to put my PLEX where my mouth is. I've just accepted that you can't type a post on these forums and just post it. I know better then to fall for that noobie mistake. You always copy over your post from some other functioning piece of software, preview it and cross your fingers before hitting the POST-button.

So the problem seems to affect only gudposters....

when you go and actually think about what you are posting and properly explain things it does that weird time out thing where it forgets your post, luckly I guess it saves a draft. god awful one paragraph posts however...

As a minor avatar to a machine cult, this does not affect me. In fact wares will operate more efficiently in my presence*, thus Fury I am convinced you are siding with ARM. Please stay still for the planet crack (start running its more fun when you fleshings die tired)

*Confirmed by the number of tech calls that are solved merely by me approaching.

Also in the sense they are more engaging and fulfilling than every mmo on the market.

I wonder if CCP made a serious offer to Chribba if he would consider taking over the forums on contract?

nah - What am I thinking? Would never happen.

-1 No sig images or gifs. Nothing is more annoying than having crap jittering all over the page when trying to read a thread. Leave that stuff to the 12 year olds on the FPS shooter forums.

I like to think that CCP is smart enough to know that there's quite a few in this community that aren't mature enough not to post a goatsie or something else in their farewell rage quit thread.
