Considering how badly I am about to poke the bear, I just want to seek out some advice on my fit.

Mackinaw

High:
Modulated Strip Miner II x2

Mid:
Survey Scanner II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II x2

Low:
Damage Control II
Reinforced Bulkheads II
Mining Laser Upgrade II

Rigs:
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I x2

Approximate EHP is 26k

This is mostly a fit to make the gank as expensive as possible since if people want to gank me, they will.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

It looks nice but if you want anti gank get a Procurer or Skiff

The only major drawback is the crazed notion that the inventory would look so much better if merely rearranged ONE MORE TIME.

Drop the survey scanner and the MLU, put a MSE in the mid and another RB in the low, use meta items if you have trouble fitting. Yea, your precious yield is gone, and you are blind to the amounts left in the roids but gankers will find someone else more squishy first before gathering more for you. Or they could just make an example out of you, who knows?

My advice is either go with a Skiff, since that actually will tank against ganks pretty well without sacrificing yield, or drop down to a Retriever if you need the larger ore hold. Even in a Retriever you can still tank it to survive a single Catalyst. Mining in a low yield Mack just does not make any sense at all.

Depending on where you mine, your Mack will tank about 3 or 4 Catalysts. That's 30-40m that the gankers lose, which is essentially nothing since it's split amongst multiple people (and if it's CODE gankers you're worried about, they get their gank ships reimbursed. So it literally is no loss for them). Then there's the 200m that you're losing and have to replace all by yourself. Not to mention the gankers could very well have a loot/salvage alt to clean up the wrecks and make back possibly even more than the cost of their ships.

If you really need to mine in a tanked Mack, here's a fit with better tank vs Catalysts.

If you want to drop down to a Retriever, here's a fit that's easy on cap, is a fraction of the cost, and will still provide enough tank that it can survive a single Catalyst (maybe not in 0.5 though).

Pro tip: setup tabs in the overview for different rocks, this way you mostly don't need survey scanner.

Thanks for the feedback, I am just trying to put together tank fits to help out my fellow miners.

I also wish the Mack had 40 extra CPU.

You'll have more luck trying to jump the Grand Canyon on a mobility scooter than trying to get most miners to sacrifice their yield for tank tbh. Me, I fly a Procurer.
