i know this has been covered before but i would like to bring it up again.
many people play eve in various ways, for me the way i make isk is thru the character bazarre. i buy and sell on a very regular basis.
last week alone i bought and sold 4 chars, each time i profit 1b+.
Now to the point. When chars are bought and sold the name of the char aswell as the corp into stays intact. I do understand the reasons for this, but really if you are a person buying a new char, (as the title says "Reinvent yourself") you should be able to pay to change the name and erase corp history. My resoning behind this is for example i had bought a char i really liked the name was meh but ok. So while playing this char i would get mails from players the old owner had scammed or what ever. After explaining this the mails slowed as well as the convo's. However i was not able to join certain ingame channels and other activity's due to this persons game play style. Even after explaining this and showing the post of the sale the channel mods wouldnt budge.
Corp history should also fall under this catagory. Same basic things kind of happened on another char. The char in question at this point had a long history, it was impossible for me to join any Null corp due to this.
Long story short why should i have to continue this characters history and life when it is a new owner?
Before everyone grabs torch's and pitchforks, i do understand the possibilty of abuse on this. However that run amuck in every aspect of eve already. However it would be nice to actually be able to "REINVENT YOURSELF" as the bazzarr claims, not living in someone elses shadow. I would think giving that NEW owner the chance to change these things for the period of one week only is fair.
I know there will be 1000000000+ posts of why this is bad. but its really not especially if its the way you play the game and at some point would like to actually keep a char or two you actually like.

Solution: Don't be lazy. Just train the char yourself and there won't be any issues with unwanted history.

Otherwise you open the door to people selling a char to themselves to wipe out the bad history and start all over again.

typical eve emo post, first off go back to general discussion. secondly im not lazy at all i have a char i have trained since 04 still in my posession and never been in any corp. and secondly i wrote that yes people will exploit this as the do EVERYRTHING else in eve. but it isnt fair for players to pay for a transfer then pay the rest of that chars existence because of what someone else did. think about if someone stole your identity what would you like to see happen? would you live with all the crap this person did? or would you want it cleaned up so you can get back to YOUR life....

First off, I never go to GD because it is rife with idiots.

Second, I'm not sure how wanting to buy a char instead of training it yourself is anything but lazy. I don't know of any other MMO that lets people just sell chars and trade them between accounts. Most people do just fine with training up their own chars, instead of buying one that already has all of the skills trained. If you want to buy a char so you don't have to train the skills, fine, but atleast call it what it is. And just because lots of stuff does get exploited doesn't mean you should add in more easily-exploitable stuff, lol.

And it's nothing like someone stealing your identity and abusing it. If anything, it's like you paying someone to forge you another identity and then finding out afterwards that he used the identity of a criminal and gave it to you.

normally i'm all down for editions to the game, but on this one im sorry i gotta disagree. allowing someone to change their name, maybe. but corp history and past crimes commited should follow the character forever. If there was a better way of checking their history and flagging, -scammers, team killers, spies, pirates, etc... just to have a better method of informing before buying. but the problem with your idea and mine, is that it would be far to abused. Maybe there would be a way to ballance it out, but I cant see how, I'll leave that up to everyone else
