Interceptor advice [ cloaking ] [ 0.0 ]

Which is the best interceptor to travel around 0.0 and potentially cloak places / go AFK or just mess around?

I'm mainly wondering about align time and utility, a fit that could let me do things when not AFK but also have a cloak for if I step away from the computer.

Whatever you have trained will do. They're pretty similar, class-wise, in the way that you describe you'd like to use them.

If you want to fly around being a cloaky **** to people take a Bomber.

Why fit a cloak? Take a Malediction, fit it to go 5km/s, make a safespot, and burn in a random direction. By the time anyone probes you down, you'll be off-grid, so you'll be nearly as safe as if you had cloaked. You'll also have the added benefit of striking additional terror into the hearts of any locals who fear AFK cloakers by actually showing up on a D-scan.

Fitting a cloak will gimp your fit and ship operation to the point of being useless.

If I understand correctly and this is for travel or pure scouting only, take a look at the ships with four lows slots. (Crusader, Malediction, Stiletto, Ares) They all can be fit for a 1.9s align time using just the low slots, assuming you skills are up there at V.

This leaves the rigs for warp speed and makes for the best runabout in the game.

anyone with a tornado and combat scanning ship will turn your 5km/s malediction/whatever into dust if you'll keep burning in a straight line.

Any interceptor will do for what you are trying to do. Just have an empty high slot to place a cloak :)

If you can get said Tornado within 250km of a Malediction burning away at over 5km/s with enough time to lock it and fire, yes, said Tornado would likely be able to insta-pop it.

Good luck with that though, especially if they happened to fit an ECCM. You'd have less than a minute to probe it, warp to it, lock it, and fire before it's out of max targeting range.

2 x polycarbon engine housing

this little ship cant really be caught it aligns and in warp before its fully decloaked after jumping a gate, no firepower because its for fast travel in null.
