I read somewhere how to do this but now that I want to use this I can't seem to find where it was I read it. From what I understand you can warp to a destination and drop a bookmark enroute. Could someone please explain how this is done?

1) Open people and places
2) Initiate warp
3) When you are at the point you want to BM (takes practice) hit the save location button and spam enter

If you want to create a good safe spot, you often need to warp between spots made in this manner to find somewhere that is off Dscan from the celestials, if possible.

I like to spam bookmark creation while in warp:
* click on the new bookmark button
* press the enter key
* Repeat until you stop warping.
* Look at the solar system (F10) with bookmarks enabled and delete the useless ones
