Excellent job with this, I can't wait till we finally have the ability to tell large fleets 'Shoot a-z on this' easily.

So if we have 20 presets in our overview, it will only pull the 5 that are in use?
Right, but you might "simply" create four shared settings. Each one of them has the same global settings, but different tab presets (profiles).

Oh eeeh... I guess that works but its kind of suboptimal for those of us who use a "Various" tab that relies on loading different setups on the fly.
Imported tab presets remain (you might end with hundreds of them over time), so you can also create settings afterwards, where the Various tab shows the desired tab preset.
The proposed four settings are just for the transfer of the tab presets from one client to another when export/import is a too complicated option.

Is there any reason that the overview has to still be limited to 5 tabs?

Because more tabs would be an awesome cherry on top for this.

Looks like they do. At least that's what the yaml file with exported settings suggest.

As a side project for overview.

How about a decent overview setup for newbros by default? 5 tabs, colour coded names, appearance tab ordered properly, proper column selection. Either by making this the default overview, or a permanent saved overview.

I have always liked the option of players getting a overview setting, full or just the tab at the end or the beginning of each career agent arc.

Show people you care by sharing!

Also: questions, comments?

Question: Why don't you drink so I can buy you a beer
Comment: The only thing better than this feature is the thought of a nice cold beer at the end of a long day of work.

end?

I spent 30 min setting my overview when i was in e-uni. It would take few click nowBig smile sharing and giving and receving as Joe saidBlink

I tried this in the last mass test and it looks good, except for one issue.

Consider: I load in player#1's settings and they are bad
So I try player#2's settings, and they are also bad.
Might as well restore my settings, so I hit "restore"....and get player#1's settings.
No problem, I'll just use the history....but my original settings are not in the history! Only the settings Ive loaded in!

And now, I'm lost. I have to rebuild my overview from scratch, even though the new system was supposed to make that unnecessary.

Suggestion: If my history is empty, then my current overview settings are automatically saved there as the first entry.

Awesome Stuff! Thank you everyone for making this possible.

The CSM XI Election are now open until March 25th, 2016. Consider Niko Lorenzio for CSM XI.

This strikes me as a very bad oversight on CCP's part. They build the feature but don't consider actual, real-world usage as you've described. I 100% agree that the system should automatically save your current settings as your first profile.

A reply of "but you can just export them first!" doesn't help. The GUI should protect you against negative consequences of an action that you DIDN'T know, and weren't told, could HAVE negative consequences. It's a simple fix, in this case. Please CCP, implement this suggestion.

No. XML is. Wordy, irritating, and a resource hog to process.

Any chance of getting a look at the YAML? Pretty please?

Is it possible to have a beter way to Manage your Overview Presets? ATM its quite crappy to set up Presets due to the bad saving mechanisem. It woud begrate to have a Dropdown menue with all the saved Overview Presets in the Overview Settings window

Is it possible to get an option to hide unpiloted ships from your overview/probe scan could help with WH posses if people leave a bunch of ships in their pos and causing issues with Dscan and probing.

Actually, no, Yaml is far worse. If you absolutely needed to get away form strict XML, then use XAML, at least its more of a standard than YAML is.

Politely not going to believe that. Certainly not for speed of processing.
