EVE 2.0?

I hope this is the right forum place to drop this idea!

So anyway i was in the shower fantasizing about flying my carrier (in 5 years time) and i got to thinking about a few things, so here they are. he ideas are meant for an all new eve (more a world change than an all new but lets see how we go)

Okay so all 4 factions are fed up with each other and war is here. The alliances are broken and its each faction for himself, during the war the pirate nations see an opportunity and strike carving up the inner star systems. The main factions all retreat to the outskirts of known space and begin fortifying they're defences. the home worlds lost to the pirate nations now become null sec with a lowsec making up the borders between neighbouring factions. As the dust settles and the factions are preparing to retake the home worlds chaos strikes in the form of a new human race* who have been watching from the shadows and now step forth to make they're mark on the universe.

*the new race could have its star systems put in above/below the already existing systems (rather than added on to the side somewhere)

Doing this would mean trade between the factions would be harder to achieve i know but i think it would make it more fun also making some items more common in faction areas would create a more diverse and rewarding trade system for those willing to risk it all to make the big ISK.

In respect to mining you could put the factions in a little bit giving each faction a ring of systems around it.

As for epic arcs you could add missions to go back to the home world to retrieve something important to your faction.

everything else would pretty much be the same as it is now with the exception of some ship modifications (during the war ship designs changed to further enhance they're roles.

**more to come but i'm out of time at the moment, feel free to comment anyway lets see what we can come up with**

I hope that by the time you really fly a carrier, you're done with fantasizing about NPC empires and ready for the ones we EVE players made.

I like how Empyrean Age and Incursion are both in there in a form.

I don't think people realize, if you turn the entire map into a free fire zone, PvP would be all that's left. Any PvE activity would be descended upon. Nothing like ganking a PvE fitted ship with a PvP fitted ship. Why, that's almost as challenging as getting ten destroyers to shoot a mining barge! (Imagine the skill involved!)

Thankfully, EVE is run by folks who understand the depths, interconnections and windings of something as intricate and complicated as New Eden cannot be grasped in the time a quick shower takes. Believe it, or believe it, a game (a solid, cogent game) is very difficult to create. Not everyone can do it.

These days people think the songs they have running in their heads when they shower would make insta-hits...
IF ONLY....if only they knew something about music!
I thought amateur game developers were limited to daydreams while they mine...apparently not.

"You know what would make this game perfect?" Yeah. Keep your ideas to yourselves. Let the pros handle it.
Conversely it could be said, "We can't wait to see your perfect game. When is your release date?"

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

I think it's time to shut down EVE 1.
Time for an EVE 2 with a richer, more logical, more realistic and more immersive background, time for new rules preventing blobs and blue donuts, new design, more diversity in the playstyles, more content (maybe a true Incarna ?).
Sadly, i don't think CCP is able to create and run properly such a game.
Yes EVE is dying, slowly but surely.

Apparently you don't have the slightest notion of how much what you just said would cost. Further, I'm sure you're not rushing ahead to volunteer to fund a project on this scale. It's always easy to suggest someone else do something for you. All you have to do is log in. There it is, your perfect game!

If anything is dying it's the MMO. The golden age of MMOs is behind us. It is now a world of f2p/p2w/MT. Why? The costs of launching a game today runs into the hundreds of millions of dollars. But, of course, that's okay since you and the OP have volunteered to fund a complete reworking of EVE.

I can't wait till you're finished so I can then tell you, "You know what would make this game PERFECT?"
(Sorry I robbed you, Pok.) Don't daydream about perfecting video games while you mine. It's bad for you.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

give or take ...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

All these talks about new EVE reminded me 1997 year: after D1 release people were asking for Diablo 2, offered tons of new features for the game - and "suddenly" Ultima Online appeared and everyone simply switched and agreed it's much better than D2 could ever be.

Right now I see 3 spaceship "Ultimas Online" emerging. So you might want just wait for 3-5 more months and see if any of them will be your "EVE 2.0" instead of asking for features which will never become reality.

It's not because CCP doesn't have, or can't get the talent needed to create a 'Eve 2.0'. It's because CCP management is **** poor in just about every aspect, with even worse PR.

It's easy to shut down EVE.

Click Start, find the CCP/EVe folder, Uninstall.

There, EVE doesn't exist anymore (for you). And the rest of us will be all the happier for it lol.

CCP are TRYING to make an EVE 2.0, thats what the whole "player made gates and beyond" inititiative/plan is, and enabling multi-threading.

The difference is, they arent EA level dicks, they are taking so long because they wantt o make the new game without losing any of the community from this one. by making this game INTO the new one. instead of just saying "yep, EVE gettign turned off, **** you dumbnuts who played it, give us more money to start new characters on a different game", ya know, like its ******* guildwars or Rift or something.
