Exactly. And like Sir Robin they deserve minstrels to sing about their brave deeds.
And as long as it is done in a civil manner, maybe with some slightly scabrous wording thrown in like any good minstrel would do, that's entirely fine by me.

There once was a corp called New Order,
who liked to miner gank and forum dis,
when they met ships that could return fire,
their pants did suddenly fill with p*ss.

Everyone here seems to gloss over the probable financial motives they would have to not show up to this match. Roll

That is only if someone needed to pay them to forfeit, which is doubtful.

Would you pay a snail to hold still so you could step on it?

I thought not.

CODE. is insignificant. They always have been and they always will be. I am not sure why there was any anticipation of any other result than what ended up happening. Did people really expect them to fight against ships with guns?

The moment they form a real fleet (even a rifter blob would be fine by me) and come out to null is the moment they will have my attention and respect.

Too bad they bailed, but then again I was surprised they entered at all, tbh.

you can't field rookie ships.

Did say in an older thread, people do seem to like to laugh at CODE.

Now it seems CODE likes people to laugh at them.

Let's make sure to keep track of all of the different stories that get thrown out to divert attention while we're at it. Try and quote from the members of CODE that posted it.

So far we have 3:

There is a mittani story forthcoming on this but long story short, we ganked a freighter with another alliance's tournament fleet in it. We withdrew after having seen it; anything otherwise would compromise the integrity of the tournament.

Well given you don't have an unlimited amount of time and the two options of some kind of setup WOW-style arena PvP Tournament v.s. real Tranquility elite Freighter PvP, how can you blame us for going with the real stuff?

And from the supposed FC himself in response to an accusation of being paid to throw in the towel:

Many thanks to our goon overlords for making this all possible.

Feel free to gather up any that I may have missed, and remember: The word of a member of CODE. is gospel.

I expect at least a dozen excuses before this thread dies down.

I hope they logged out in empire space, not in Jove space. They might have a bit of a time getting back otherwise.

Yes, they can self-destruct their pods.

What exactly happened to CODE? Why, they showed us who they really are. They also showed us what ganking miners really is. Think about it. If THEY can do it, then....but we've wasted SO much bandwidth on CODE. They are what happens when you leave a huge HOLE in your stuff. Trying to build an empire off the suicide gank? Noooooo. They never had it in them to think that thought! Trying to SEEM like they've built an empire off the suicide gank? Now you're talking.

What happened to CODE happens to us all. Some of us can meet the moment. Some of us cannot:

Eventually, life delivers unto you the "Put up or shut up" moment.

CODE's came. CODE went. Those of you who thought there was more to them than this
need to recalibrate your thinking. Oh yes, and the AT is rigged. But, I've been saying that for YEARS.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

You mean the match that someone else had to pay their way for?

I find this more interesting than them backing out, actually. I thought that an alliance that has kills and loot of such high value would be able to buy its way in... but I guess that's another mystery of CODE.... Where does the money go?

Why didn't they field thrashers and nados instead? If they were dead-set on fielding a gank squad they should have had the foresight to know that someone would have banned their signature ships.

If the goal of entering the AT was to win, yes, we would have fielded Vexors/Ishtars/Navy Vexors/Dominixes or something like that. Lots of our mains have decent drone skills since I've been pushing people to train into gank Vexor fits.

If the goal of entering was to have fun and cause hilarious stories for almost all of EVE to laugh with, we'd have forfeited.

If some of us had bet on a 100-0 whelping, we might also have forfeited.

If RvB or a third party offered us good ISK, we might have forfeited.

Draw your own conclusions.

"won" the tournament outright. Once again speculation is rife within the Eve online community about everyone's favourite pantomime villain corp, keeping the metagame alive and well.

Code. have brought the metagame to this annual event that has otherwise suffered from failing at demonstrating this key element of Eve. Praise James 315, may he and Code. continue to improve Eve through the metagame for many years to come, they and others like them are what set this game apart from all others.
