Looters in L4 missions

Had a lootter warp into my worlds collide mission in a Gila so I just scooped my MTU and took as much loot as i could hold. I logged off for about 3 hours to come back to it.

This person went into the last room and stole the cargo needed to complete the mission and put it in contracts for 20m. Out of principle i quit the mission and took a small standing loss rather then buy it back.

Is there a way to get around this kind of thing? Does the cargo respawn after downtime?

If your mission is complete it will not respawn

I'd allowed gameplay. But yeah, just wait until after d/t and do it again.

i dont mind them stealing loot and salvaging. Even blowing up my MTU every now and then.

But stealing the mission loot and putting in contracts is a pain in the ass

I rarely bother with loot and salvage but when I do I "open cargo " on the MTU and filter it to show mods worth more than 500K and leave it open. I then drag any high value mods into a cargo container on my ship as they appear (this avoids accidently filling your hold with so much loot the MTU cannot be scooped).

I do this mainly to save time but a side effect advantage is if someone warps into your mission you can scoop the MTU immediately and know you are only leaving low value loot behind.

just ignore them?

and if they steal your mission item go steal it from someone else, or buy it from someone else. jita has nearly everything and for the most part they aren't that expensive.

That was dumb, had you just waited until after downtime, the mission (rats and everything) would have just respawned.

If CCP didn't change anything about this, an active mission stays up for about a week or something. So theoretically you could respawn the same mission several times.

As the first reply said, if the mission is flagged as complete (ships crew dropped) then it won't reset at downtime.

OP: you might want to hang on to those hacker chips, there's always a chance the mission invader is carrying one but I've never seen that myself.

Alternatively, either use a hacker chip to bypass the first gate and run it fast, stay away from mission hubs, or get your faction up so you can do multiple declines and skip the ones that have a mission objective that can't be bought off the market or off cheap contracts (like militants, reports etc).

The OP said someone stole something he needed to complete the mission, so the mission couldn't get flagged as complete.

Getting flagged as complete means being able to turn the mission in. Or did you mean the encounter alone? Seems weird that a mission would not respawn if there are items missing, but the encounter is flagged complete. My first reaction would have been to ask the support if that behaviour is wanted and working as intended.

If it happens this way, I never had it happen to me. (I'm a sucker for the time bonus, so I complete missions as fast as possible, barely leaving enough time for looters to find my blued wrecks before I turn it in.)

When you kill 'group one' in the final room the mission is flagged as complete. You cannot loot the wreck until that group is dead. If the ships crew is gone, they are gone for good (in that mission).

Ah, good to know, thanks. I was told the rats are always respawning after downtime as long as the mission isn't turned in, so I assumed the rat with the mission item would also respawn.

checked contracts issued by the player who stole it and seems like they have 4-5 contracts going for different cargo needed to complete missions.

I checked her killboard the day after she took my worlds collide loot and she lost a 600m gila to a navy vexor in high sec.

if she stole the mission objective from the op after he had destroyed the rat would that not make her a criminal / suspect and allow you to agress? or did she jump into the mission and kill the rat herself making it her loot?

Worlds Collide; After killing the closest group in the last room you rescue some scientists from a ship that is next to the warp in spot, anyone that kills that group, regardless of who owns the mission, can scoop the scientist and leave.

OP; Send a petition, tell them you accidentally blew up the mission objective when you hit the button for guns instead of tractor, they will reset your mission and you can do it over again, and this time scoop your loot.

You win, mission objective thief loses.

take the standings loss and move on, no big deal.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

It matters in some of the Epic arcs. Without the objective you cannot complete the rest of the arc and there are players who make a living out of stealing Epic Arc mission objectives and ransoming them back.

But even then a petition should get the mission reset.

Lying in a petition and risk whatever CCP would do doesn't seem worth it to complete a mission...

These people are annoying but if you stay away from main mission hubs they can be avoided for the most part. If it's someone looting in a faction ship get some friends in a fleet. They turn suspect so they're free for anyone in the system to kill. You can probably post a fleet invite in local once you have it pointed and people will join to get in on the kill.
