Pretty much this, you won't know if there are other wormholes, you'll have to scan all the system anyway. Unless you are a shcrub.

The real question. Will ships also retain the same sigID's across downtimes? Pirate

Often I don't. If I am just daytripping or trying to get a quick way out it saves me some time. I never said it was a huge inconvenience.

YAY! More dumbing down of WH space!!!

Whatever, it's what the mindless masses want.
To me the change is irrelevant since the IDs on sigs have no bearing on on scanning *shrug*

Great change, and now we can keep track of the codes when doing the bookmarks, as they will be meaningful for more than beyond the downtime..

Regarding ships, I assume that after the downtime, they still get a new code when they log in... Is that right?
How about going all the way and having each ship have an unique signature code, that persists across the life of the ship?

I will sometimes scan the new Sig first, because I'm curious. But if you aren't scanning the whole system down anyway, you are doing it wrong.

Excellent change, much appreciated, as to whether this is the change Fozzie referred to who knows, this is Fozzie, he always likes to keep people guessing.

Sometimes he can surprise the socks off us.Shocked

Sometimes the Evil Fozzie but always expect the unexpected.
There is always the possibility that the good fozzie can escape.Lol

You meant to say "Not just the new sigs like a pro". Easy to get confused, I know.

No reason to scan down preexisting stuff, unless you are carebearing it up there Friend Bear.

Why do we need this change?

It's more of a hindrance then a help, because when you jump into a new wormhole, you will have no idea which signature has a greater chance of being a wormhole. It will make wormhole diving more painful.

Pretty much this, it benefits the people who play around downtime but for the rest of us who usually don't start scanning our chains out until several hours after downtime well it makes it more difficult in some ways.

I dont get how. Explain.

Because the signatures reset at downtime and all follow the same general formula if I enter a system and the sigs are:

adc
ddc
kdc
ydc
zmw

I will be scanning zmw as it is a newer signature, that is the signature appeared after downtime. If I am data or relic hunting in null it could be a site I want, or in wspace it is very often a new wormhole signature.

With the new system in place that adc signature can persist for weeks if no one wants to run it, but the rest of the signatures might be cleared, you'd get a system that looked like:

adc
vwr
kdj
rty

ETC. I can't make any sense of that or what is newer so I will have to scan down all the signatures. I Understand both sides of the issue, for me it's more of a pain in the ass, for the people that scan before and after downtime well it will help them greatly as they won't have to rescan everything after downtime.

Unless you dont plan on scanning the system all the way (dont know why you wouldn't) I dont see a problem.

One case where it will make a massive difference is c4's there are no incoming connections to c4's that are over 16 hours. This means you can scan a system (assuming its static was spawned the day before) just by scanning the new sigs.
