I got this CCP notice that the Worm and GILA had changed and the two drone (high damage) ships seemed very cool. So I subbed a new account to check out the ships. See how easy it is to get old EVE players back in game.

IT'S AMAZING for new low SP characters. I started with a brand new toon, and.... the worm had around 150 dps after about two days of training. The Gila, which I fly now, has about 450 dps after about 3 weeks with about 40k EHP(and that's cross training for tank, etc.)

This may be old news, but for players just getting out of the gate, I can't think of a better starter ship combo.

Big smileBecause I am happy about it, I completely expect it to be nerfed.Cry

? Any other amazing surprise starter ships of late?

Also anyone have a good luck with using the GILA for PVP?

There is a large difference between low SP players and new players.

No, new players should not be flying around in 40mil isk ships let alone 300mil isk ones.

I suppose you're right... I had already done World's Collide about 400 times before I did it with this toon.

Anyway, nice ships though.

An even better one is the Gnosis. Let's you try out the basics of everything combat without committing weeks of training to find out the other way.

Just think too when the changes to these ships were announced there were so many tears flowing about how crap the ship was going to be because the Gila in particular couldn't use sentries any more. I offered to buy all Worms and Gilas contracted to me at 10% below market sell price in Jita and I would accept them subject to location at my discretion.

Although only a pair of people took me up on it, so I didn't get rich when the price spiked since the ships are fantastic. I should have advertised my offer in more than one thread.

But yeah Worm, Gila and Rattlesnake for that matter are fantastic now.

Although I haven't used the Gila in pvp yet the Worm can get over 300 dps and 9k EHP with a decent pvp fitting and good skills. Good luck taking that down in a novice FW plex.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

Agreed, if your putting down 200m per hull you better have the skills to back it up, thats like putting a Test driver in a Ferrari and hoping that with only a few hours on the road they'll be able to race it like a pro

I love my Gila! Training an Ishtar is another 60-90 days so I forked over the isk and picked up the Gila. Was scary to fly around in .5b but now that I've almost tippled that its not as scary.

To answer your question, I have not and will not participate in PVP with it willingly. Too much isk to risk for a single fight at this point.
