I do. I create my songs for fun and own entertainment too, but to me the free part is important. If you sign up with a label you usually give away your copyright to that label. After doing that you are no longer able to do as you please with your own tracks, and THAT is something I am very much against. I am strongly against labels who chase people with blowtorches, muting music in videos on youtube and so on. I don't want to be part of anything like that at all. As I mentioned if it is all free then I am all ears.

1. Will the compilation be free or will it be sold for IRL cash?

Only free engine. Everyone who wants to get a full compilation download for FOC (free).

Ned Black wrote:

2. Will I as an artist be able to keep copyright control of the tracks (as in can I still put them on soundcloud, give them away for free, use them in videos, allow friends to use them in videos etc regardless of the answer in 1)

All tracks will be licensed by Creative Commons (on side of the artist):

Stage 1 "Attribution" - You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your copyrighted work but only if they give credit the way you request.
Stage 2 "Noncommercial" - You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your work — and derivative works based upon it — but for noncommercial purposes only.
Stage 3 "Share Alike" - You allow others to distribute derivative works only under a license identical to the license that governs your work.

but, the net-label rem.fever does not have the right, if you subsequently change the name of the track and untie him from the universe EVE, stop you in your tracks for sale (without net-label).

Ned Black wrote:

Then I read label... and labels are about making money... and music today is BIG business... or if you will... BIG money.

Net-Label - rem.fever was created for information support and collect of the full compilation .ie label does not assign your tracks

Thank you for clarifying things!

I have never posted in the forums until I noticed this. Have some ambient tracks I been working on to listen to while I play eve.

I wake up this morning and this has to be the most amazing thing I have ever seen blossom in the eve community.

Expect an e-mail from me in the next few weeks. Kudos!

The eve jukebox needs to come back. And CCP needs to stay with the people who created their music in the past. I know creating good music is fantastically difficult, you really have to have a creative mind for it...so with all due respect to the people who have submitted music so far on that soundcloud page, none of it was terribly good. Not bad but not something that should go into the game. The people or person who did tracks like shifting the balance of power or the expansion themes in 06&09...now that is talent. That's the kind of ambient music that drew me to this game in the first place. Honestly when I started this game running noob ops in a 1.0 state war system....the eve jukebox music gave this game an ambient feel like none that I had experienced to date. The combat music always left a little to be desired but wasn't bad. The normal ambient background music was unbelievable though....and it started at the log on screen. That "feel" the music brought to the game was beyond brilliant. Unfortunately CCP has moved away from some of that.

Would be cool if players decide what gerne of music play in background, i know that juke box is removed and here no chance to get it back... but option that alow player to select own favorite music gerne would be cool.. ofcourse if we got other gerne to listen,
i like ambient in game it is simple perfect to EvE but other gerne always welcome, personaly like some space - trance themes.

Ps. "Not mine" Altus - Horizons, good stuf.

If it bleed we can kill it.

Just mailed one of a few tracks that Eve inspired me to create. If it happens to make it to Soundcloud, feel free to throw rotten fruits and vegetables at it as I am certainly not much of a 'musician'. Critique can only be a boon at my level of skill!

Lots of interesting sound so far. I am looking forward to hearing more. How often are tracks uploaded to the site?

Couple of tracks submitted few days ago, this will be cool. I have to ask, when will we be seeing the end result? As for where my tracks end up, as long as people get enjoyment from the listen I'm solid. If suddenly I get internet famous for a song WHOOHOO! Internet dollars....lol! P

Now we are collecting all the profit that is possible. After the deadline, 2 weeks we collect all the tracks that fit on the concept. Maybe there will be new sides.

Here is the new proto-side:

I appreciate what you are saying with the CC rules and all but I have to put the following: @CCP/DEV Questions in here (5,6)

1) I am a real artist and I have a pretty diverse discography dating back almost 20 years. I have a lot of tracks I have released under various labels but I have retained control over all of them (I am not stupid.) I can provide you tracks of Electro (not house... real Electro,) Breaks, Psy, Ambient/Downtempo etc that I retain the license too and can grant you a license to include (would be a lot easier if all the tracks were in a mix) but I cannot release any of them under CC (again you can give them away and I can grant you a license to do so but not under CC. You cannot make money off them though unless in a mix.) If so I need to see a contract.

2) From listening to the tracks you have posted to the SC Page I noticed that the first few are of different styles but then you have a lot of Drone/Proto-IDMish stuff... My styles are much more like this:
Electro & Breaks: https://soundcloud.com/4gattaca/vocode-com-presents-oct-2005
If you have ever caught one of my shows on www.eve-radio.com (SUN0000GMT/SAT8:00PM EST) I perform all live music. The last show I did I remixed and improvised on the fly for a Psytrance/GOA show you can listen to here: http://eve-radio.com/modules/mod_rewind/player.php?recidx=53883&station=er
--- Would this be Jelly?

3) If no to either of the above questions --- A) I still need to see a contract and B) What would you want from me in terms of genre.

4) How about remixes of the tracks that have already been submitted? Can we do those? If there is like 3 top tracks you want to include can we get them all bounced down (or preferably either Sonar, Ableton, or Bitwig project files?) I can take them without any mastering effects and each part just bounced though if all else fails.

5) CCP - How about creating a mix of it all to just hit play with? Something about 2hrs long? Will CCP give anything for doing that? Obviously I am sure you know that just mixing track A into B is boring... I am talking a real studio mix with remixing on the fly, intro/outtros and all that.

And finally 6) CCP - Lets say this project and I just would not Jell... If I were to take tracks not only by myself but others who are constrained by licensing and gave them away... if we set it to a 3rd party for approval (so you can hear we are not using Mr Microphone and a bunch of presets on a Casio) would CCP extend the offer to other projects? Not trying to take anything away from the OP I just have prior commitments I have to adhere to.
