To Gank or Not to Gank.

What Does one consider good targets to Gank or Bad targets to gank, meaning a Hauler, Miner, Mission runner, Ratter?

Does it matter if it is high sec, low sec, null sec, or WH space? If so why and to what extent?

What do you look for before you commit to the kill?

Please don't assume this is a how do I prevent from being ganked post, I just want to know what you think and feel before you rake in tears.

"Gank" Is not the question, it is the answer.

The question is "what do you do if you see a barge afk?"

Am I in a starter system? Nope? Gank!

Oh and you better make sure you can kill the target otherwise...lol

I'll kill anything with more than 200 mil in the cargohold.

Anything, really. My favourite gank was an opportunist moment when I found an AAA Leopard sat afk on a gate in high-sec. I just felt he didn't deserve that ship so I popped it.

For flipping mission runners one must "acquire" aggression from the bear in question, meaning no CONCORD but takes some finesse and some clever roleplay.
Thoroughly rewarding when it comes together, still chasing that battleship kill myself.

I'm -10.0, live in lowsec and just shoot everything. Besides, decisions are hard and make my bald head hurt.

Anything you can pop solo is a viable target, even pods, if they have shiny things in cargobay it's a plus.

Only for the mechanics, high-sec you'll want an alt to loot due to concord.
Low-sec be aware of gate guns.
Null / wh space watch out for the locals to get a fleet up and try to bait you into going for a tanked indy or something.

Plex SellingTool wrote:

The systems security rating (this will determine how many volleys you get off before concordokken)
Did an alt's passive scan on the target show anything nice in cargobay or just junk.
How well is the target tanked.
If it's a pod, the sec status of the pilot. 5.0 people usually have a much higher chance of shiny implants.

I just shoot their MTU. If that doesn't work, I still get positive killboard.

Heh, I can see that the Devils' signature style rubs off quickly.

Dude, you've been with those guys nearly 2 months, and no battleship kill?
What have you been doing? What?

Hauler -- poorly tanked, ~250m+ of goodies.
Miner -- not interested, unless it thinks it's a hauler, like a venture carrying a plex or something...
Mission runner -- Anything that'll take the bait, though not interested in anything smaller than a battlecruiser.

If you do go for anything smaller than a battlecruiser and the pilot is younger than you (and not a complete bellend), consider spotting them some isk to help replace the ship, you might end up with some friends.
