Solo Tier 3 Battlecruisers in L4s

I've run my Oracle and Talos through a few of the lighter L4 missions (like Massive Attack). The tanks are light, of course, but the ships are fast enough that you can outrun npc battleships and set the engagement range to whatever works well for you.

The Oracle is more fragile, and the Tornado and Naga would be similar. With no drone-space and large guns, you're very vulnerable to small scramming frigates. If they ever learn the Sleeper trick of maximizing transversal on approach, we'll have serious issues. Even shoving dual webs and a tracking comp didn't really help once the scrammers got close. Took forever to take them out. In a tougher mission, my Oracle would've gone poof.

The Talos is suprisingly solid. With the upgrades to hybrids, 425mm rails do a good amount of damage and have great range. Anitmatter ammo still gives an optimal that lets you punch out the closer battleships and cruisers. Running 5 scout drones takes care of anything small that gets too close and adds a decent amount of dps.

The benefits of the T3 battlecruisers over a battleship are speed and lock time. In the missions that have long crawls between gates, the battlecruisers will shorten that slowboat time. In all missions being able to lock quicker and open fire immediately increases your effective dps.

And, while off topic, it's pretty obvious they make a kick-ass partner to a passive-tanked Drake. Drake tanks, T3 battlecruiser adds lots of dps while still keeping up in lock-time and speed.

Now, Ive heard that the Orcale is pretty gay, but I always thought that it was due to the design of the ship.

But Ive never heard of an Oracle turning poof due to missions though.

This is what I love about eve, you are always learning something new every day.

Thanks OP!

Troll I scream! TROLL!!!!!!!

P.S: That isn't how you spell puff (Homosexual, etc. etc.). Poof is kind of a gentle explosion, like setting fire to 60 grains of black powder, that is more of a poof, setting off 60k grains would be a bit of a bang though, i think.

well yeah, i did try the talos too on missions and as gunboat its a beast. trying to tank on it sacrifices too much damage for my taste. so i dropped all the tank and fitted a deadspace ab + OD then the rest is jsut weapon upgrades and NPCs just cant ever catch you, let a lone hit you at that distance and with your sig radius.

im guessing someone whos familliar with blitzes could use it to run missions on low. instead of using a cloaky drake, a cloaky Talos could snipe triggers and objectives really fast, unlike the drake, and wont lose the 5 ewar drones to make a quick escape should someone warp on you. hell, with highs overloaded and the target jammed, the talos could stay for a kill against other bcs. and btw, currently at 60m a hull, with a 20 m t2 fit on its fairly inexpensive considering the stupid ammount of faction LP you can get blitzing those missions.

compared to the other 3, the talos is by far the best of the bunch when flying alone, but i think the oracle can do more if someone else is on tanking duty.

Tank is dead in most missions. Just fact.

They made sure they are not mission boats, more ships do far more with far less worry of tankage.

I've always spelt it 'poof' ^^... not that I've ever had to write it often, but I do live in brighton, which is the gay capital of england... or so they says.

Anyway, onto the topic: I've been messing around with a dual gisti b-type small shield booster 100mn ab tornado in missions... It teabags lvl 3's, but I'm using dual 425's for the tracking. It's dps is BAD vs battleships in lvl 4's. The answer to that would be to upgrade the guns to dual 800's or something, but then I worry that it'd never hit frigs that get under them. all t2 guns ofc. its cap stable and goes so fast when it needs to that it takes no damage. 1300m/s with AB on.

Yes mate, I agree. I've tried all of the Tier 3 BC's as secondary mission runners as damage dearlers. My current favourite is the Talos and it's 1096 dps.

Hmmm....interesting. 100mn AB. Would have been great on the original Naga with it's missiles.

it would have been semi-great: while tracking would cease to be a problem while the ab was active, the ammo cost required to kill frigates would nerf your profits into the ground. plus I don't think there would be enough mid slots.

I have been thinking I could swap one of the boosters for a fed navy web and see how that does, but still I think that 800's wont track close frigs well enough even while webbed and 425's are just bad for killing battleships.

Though I'm at work atm and can't try anything out.
