So, what exactly is the number of this critical mass of subs, that is required to proceed?

All I want to see is, how many HUMAN beings are in possession of any (1 or more) accounts and not just the total number of accounts.

For years I have said that this "you need an alt for this, that and the other thing" looks like a scam to a lot of people. I can't even tell other adults I play Eve any more, and for one reason, it makes me look like a chump. A lot of people have come to the game and seen this deal where you need more than one account "just to survive" and they see that as a scam. Oh, you want to play? OK, but unless you want to be gank fodder, double what you pay us, at least.

So there are two camps, one is silent and have said their very last and irrefutable word on the topic, that if you fall for this you are a chump. Where are those people? They left, and they don't come to these forums to get trolled by the other camp, the ones who put so much $$ into this racket that to let go of the "you need X number of accounts" mantra means the thought they might be chumps starts to creep into their heads, and that hurts their ego, so they push the mantra even harder. They'll call the ones who left all kinds of names, but they won't listen, they won't care because they left.


So this "number of subs" thing is BS in a game where a mantra of alts is pushed and held in high regard (by those with Stockholm syndrome or maybe just a case of autists gonna autist). I want to see the number of total human subscribers and compare that to the number of subs. I don't want exceptions paraded around either (ISBoxers and altaholics). Just show me the money.

Your point is wrongheaded, and would be irrelevant, even if it were correct.
First, I have literally one alt account, and it houses a Dread pilot in training who does a bit of missioning in highsec when I am bored. Guess where my main lives. Hint: it's nowhere near my alt. You are nuts if believe that alt accounts are a necessity. Make some damned friends and stop pretending that you have to do everything by yourself.
Second, what does it matter if 20 characters are controlled by 20 people, or one guy? Oh...right...it doesn't. All of those accounts have to be paid for.

So, this is the first year CCP hasn't released subscription figures. Until then it was ten years of slow growth. How satisfied are you with the health of Eve online?: I think I'm not satisfied. We have a lot of work to do to convince people that Eve is a great game to play, and we've seen that in various players with the effects on the game and I think people can feel that. I'm working on making stuff that will convince past players that Eve is worth investing your time in and enjoying yourself when you come back.
What will fix this in the next 12 months?: Yes and no. My view is that there's no single idea that will 'fix eve' It's about us making lots of good decisions in many places. There's changes we can make that are fast but will make big improvements to the game, and we need to do them. Even with important things like sovereignty, there's no single big thing that will fix it, so we're making upgrades to things such as corp and alliance code so we're in the position to make big changes. Like, farms and fields that will keep thousands of people active doing things instead. Sometimes we have to leap ahead to stop the pain - we know that the star base code needs to be replaced but we still made quality of life improvements to spare players the pain now. Same with sovereignty - we will change it, but that doesn't mean we'll leave it alone until it's replaced.
Big fixes take a lot of man-hours and aren't sexy for new players. How does that affect new player retention?: It's my belief that Eve should grow from the inside out, rather than from the outside in. If people are having fun in Eve, they will bring more people in. Enablers etc. 'making war in space' I'm not going to sell that to a new player - the guy who's putting together the war effort is who I want. Not to dumb down the concepts so a newbie can understand it but to let everyone else explain why they should care about war in space. It's still our job to make systems that make sense, but we're not interested in, e.g. explaining the intricacies of the severity system to new players so they suddenly want to join the metagame. I'd prefer to get them into corporation that could explain it better.

I've been saying it for years here. Some people THINK they want easier and safer, but when you make things easier and safer, the same people get bored and leave lol.

Fair enough on point one. I mistook your relaying of the perceptions of others, as you relaying your own.

As for the rest of it: Jesus Christ that's some of the most off the wall **** I've read in a while. Something I've noticed about people born before 1980: they seem to believe that all of those born after are hypersensitive pussies who take everything personally, while attempting to put forth their own superior sense of objectivity. See? I can do it too, and it doesn't make any more sense when it's reversed, even though you already provided evidence for my goofy claim.

As for the titan: ehm, no. Until they're made dockable, I have no interest in ever owning one.

You're obviously a part of the instant gratification crowd many of us come here to get away from. And why do you care about how EVE players feel about the game they play on a forum dedicated to EVE. It seems like you have way too much time on your hands.

EVE is more hobby than game. I enjoy everything I do in EVE, it's not a job , mainly because I can't do my job while buck ass naked and drinking beer.
