My PC had catastrophic had drive failure a few days ago and I'm not going to be able to login for a week or so while it's being repaired (on now with my phone). I've already put in a support ticket requesting my account be temporarily put on hold but I'm not sure that's the best thing to do or if CCP will even do it. I have 13 accounts in total. What is the best way to handle this? Can I put my accounts on hold or am I just screwed on time I've paid for?

The fact you have 13 accounts and don't have a single way of accessing them in the event of a hard drive failure means you deserve everything you get.

Because the Legacy Code has too much Psssssssssssssssh, nothing will ever get fixed until CCP stop wasting money on failed sparkle MMOs and instead rewrite the entire backend of EvE from scratch.

No idea how it works m8, i norm just went with the line of "im screwed till i get it fixed" but that shouldn't stop you from at the least contacting support explaining your circumstances and seeing how they can help you out account side of things, the least they can do is just say "hey bud sorry cant do anything"

The answer is No, there is no such thing in EVE.

However, I like the idea of putting a sub on hold. As long as there's no ghost training/whatever going on, it sounds like a good thing.

Surely you have friends with computers.

When I was between moves, I drove 45 minutes to a friend's country cottage and used his computer.

He was also nice enough to let me live there for 2 months, while I waited for my new place's renovations to be completed.

Lets be honest, someone who has 13 EVE accounts has no friends....

Yes, yes I am. Thanks for noticing.

Yeah, because everyone plans on hard drive failure that's never supposed to happen.

I do have friends but none that will let me spend hours downloading and installing gigs worth of software.

I have had 4 main harddrives fail.

2 platter, 2 SSD.

This is why I now have triple redundant backups too, as I have had 2 external backup drives fail too.

Sometimes **** happens.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Average?

HDD lifetime is going up all the time, but stuff made pre-2011 die on average after 33 months according to our wholesale rep if in a proper desktop. If in a hot desktop (drive over 45c all the time) it's less than 2 years and a laptop HDD is expected to last 15-16 months.

Not interested in still training, only not losing the time I've paid for.

Yes.

If CCP set precedent in deciding you breaking your own computer was somehow acceptable, it most definitely wouldn't be worth them hiring 50 people to deal with the massive influx of petitions from every entitled player petitioning for a hold every long weekend.

There's a slight difference between deciding you want to party all weekend and physically being unable to login. Thanks for not realizing that.

To be honest, if there was a phone app or web site that could be used to change skill queues with this wouldn't be an issue.

Really? Tell me how CCP would know you have a broken computer and are not just a lame duck that can't bear to go without a skill queue for a couple of days?

Thinking it through before you post. Try it.

Really as a subscription based service that we pay for, there shouldn't be a need to tell them anything, they should have a tool available in account settings to put my account on hold myself. Lacking that, they should do so simply because I've told them via support ticket that it is an issue beyond my control and if that isn't enough I've also posted a video of what the laptop was doing when it started for a friend that is a technician to get advice on what to do next.
