Well, thank you for getting puke on me.

My wife has morning sickness, and she was reading over my shoulder.

Morning sickness in females is usually caused by an unwanted parasitical infection. You should probably get that checked out.

What you meant to say was probably :

Isn't that just called ugly/ uglies?

Ugly Ducklings is the name of the Brave/HERO Moa fleet (and we are just about the only ones that use it). The name is of course a reference to the H.C Andersen story combined with the recent model update for the Moa.

Cool, thanks for the responses. I just wasn't sure if I needed to learn some kind of naming system because it seemed like all the Eve news sites and blogs would use the same name for a specific type of doctrine.

Generally, the first people to (seriously) use something get the rights to name it - mainly because the name will correspond to a specific fit/set-up detailed on their internal forums, with a name making it easier for people who use the forum to know what they are supposed to bring (for example, its easier to to send a fleet broadcast out for "Baltec fleet" than "Armour rail MWD Megathron, etc, etc). And once that group refers to it internally, other groups will tend to as well (either due to spies or reference in battlereports) as it makes it easier to differentiate exact fits and purposes of the same ships (ie, a Hamgu is different to a Thundercat, which is different to a Pingu, which is different to a Slippery Pete, even though all are Tengu fleets, and two of those even use the same weapon type). The exact name itself could just be exceedingly basic (Drake Fleet, Ishtar Fleet), follow an internal naming convention (like PL's Hellcat, Slowcat, Thundercat, etc), be a straight-up explanation of what they are (like the Hamgu, Railgu, Armour HAC, Nanohac), or what they are indended to do (like our Alphafleet, Welpcane, and Seigefleet), or a completely unrelated name that has some backstory attached (such as the Baltecfleet, or some of the other odd ones mentioned in the thread).

One of my favorite doctrines (I love both the name and setup) is a setup me and a few friends used.

"Flying Squirrels"

Basically it was kiting shield tristans, and then 2 or 3 crucifiers and maulus's that would sit 100km away damping and tracking disrupting. It was a fun, effective and easy doctrine to fly because the tristans would orbit at 24km and hold point then if one took damage he burnt 50km or so away then if another one got damaged he would burn off and the first tristan that took damage burnt back in with point.

Note: Anything you say will be misquoted then used against you.

If it has "cat" in it, it's something PL pulled out of their asses.
From my understanding, Baltec fleet was named after baltec1 of Bat Country, who used to fly his Megathron in every fleet, even foregoing SRP when needed.

Basically, people pull names out of their asses. It's no different than station naming.

Still stubbornly fly nothing but Mega. CCP didn't stop me from taking them in harpy fleet despite their best efforts although I do spend a great deal more isk to do it.
