For example. Cloak timer on ships with cloak + cyno fitted. so only active players can gather free intel and be in strategically valuable positions to drop cyno beacons. = Fair balance

Greifer response: No there's no harm what so ever in cloaked ships in your space go about your business and let us exploit timezones and rl to mean we can drop on targets out of your prime time at will. = stupid one sided view. Preserves only the game-play they take advantage of.

Carebear response: I want to mine with freedom at all times. why can people come to my space and shoot me at will. Remove cloak.... Make them be scan detectable. Make them use fuel make them unable to fit cyno. = one sided and removes a game style completely.

My personal problem with cloaking is that it inevitably leads to Klingons landing on grid.

To be fair, CCP has been actively improving the UI.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

I think that if we as players contribute to the atmosphere of EVE being brutal, unforgiving, and infinitely complex I think that's fine. It just means that a better caliber of player will stick around.

I think a lot of people (mistakenly) think that these two things are the same..

Perhaps this is the language barrier talking, but would you please lay out how these are supposed to be different?

Driving away the wrong kind of player and encouraging the right kind are very often one and the same. EVE's very design often serves to drive away the wrong kind of player.

Or are you speaking more philosophically, about not accidentally driving away the right kind of player?

A lot of player corp cultures can develop versions of hazing, which often have nothing to do with how good a player might be at EVE. To me, hazing is "damage" that we might cause each other on a personal level for no real benefit to how the game is played.

A player can join a corp, get awoxed, robbed, and kicked out and then may decide to quit EVE. I consider this to be an in-game reason for the player to come to the decision.

A player can join a corp, never mesh with the corp culture, get ridiculed, has a terrible time and decides to quit EVE. I don't consider this to be a "good" reason for them to quit.

The same can be said of interactions on a forum like this one, or reddit. Dominant opinions can sometimes take a life of their own, and if they are expressed in ways that are over-zealous then one might just be speaking "to the man" instead of "to the argument". For example, we can get pretty carried away on reddit with downvote brigades. It's a poor way of communication, if it happens to be the primary vehicle of argumentation.

Hope that makes sense.

I am clear on your point now, yes.

One of those things is no great loss, the other may very well be.

For these occasions you should always be prepared (btw, best vampire movie ever).

Oh, I miss the days when vampire movies didn't involve sparkletards and teenage girls and Kristen Stewart.

I wonder if bad jokes will cause people to leave?

A little girl goes into a pet shop and asks for a wabbit. The clerk thinks that's just the cutest thing. So he takes her over to the rabbit pen and gets down on his knees. "Would you like the little fluffy white wabbit? Or how about the cute little brown wabbit over here?"

The girl leans over to him and says, "I weally don't think my python gives a f***."

Teenage girls, Kristen Stewart, Corey Feldman. I'm not seeing a difference.

My very limited understanding of the twilight universe is that teenage girls = werewolves, sparkletards = sparkletards, and Kristen Stewart = soul-sucking human leech stuck to the ass of society. I'm still unclear if there are any actual vampires involved.

I think some of the pixel elitist bittervets and bitternewbs here should definitely be taught a lesson by the success of WoW, the first true MMO.

There aren't words for how dumb this post is.

For the sake of the last few shreds of my belief in humanity, I must classify the above as trolling.

Good Evening,

Please be respectful of other players on this forum and refrain from attacks. I have locked this thread for rules below.

Quote:

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

22. Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.
