[Video Project] One Man Crew - Collective Solo PvP

A little update on the situation.

As mentioned earlier I had found a couple of guys to help with the editing to speed up the process. My own involvement has been limited for the last 2 weeks as I have barely been home.

The people I got to help are:


  • Miriam Sasko - Member of Matari Exodus and one of their video guys
  • James Kestrel - Been involved in editing a couple of eve videos including Guado's Samurai revenge 8 and 8.5
  • iter Seektor - Professional media guy in RL who has also done some eve videos.


All 3 are experienced video editors and I am glad to have them on the team. Sadly, they have all been more busy than anticipated and the work slowed down again. So I'm getting to the point where I don't really know what do to about it. I will be away next week, but should have time again afterwards.

Don't sweat it, as long as any progress is done, it's good.

As long as you aren't as bad I have been with some of my videos, we'll understand. (I have two series of videos on my YouTube-account which are on infinite hiatus for years now.) Real life is more important.

Mizhir yea just let it be done when its done. I would recommend just updates here once a week or so, so people feel that it hasn't been forgotten.

If its looking like finishing is going to be a problem. Accept a lower standard of video editing :D

Just go ahead and release it. Cant see OMC team objecting. ****, not like they gonna re-edit the video to cut you out, could put another 7 week delay on their production.

What sort of response is that? So the situation you chose to set up and everyone is voluntarily adhering to for no reason whatsoever other than threat of prize removal is now causing you pain?

Why would you not just say "sure, release it as we have not yet finished, or look like finishing OMC video in the near future"

-I'm getting entertainment for literally no cost to myself whatsoever, check.
-I am interested in said entertainment, check.
-I have contributed nothing at any stage of development, check.
-Since you peaked my interest I feel I am owed either a finished product or an explanation, check.
-In above, if the latter is chosen instead of the former I feel a right to be outraged, check.

Right now the OMC team pretty much only owe anything to the people who had fights make it to win prizes because presumably they worked hard to get the footage they won with and many probably set out to get the footage with exactly this contest in mind. If the OMC crew wanted to pay out and shut down the project it'd be well within their rights to do it. So far only Teh Gaunt has a legitimate grievance. If you still feel outraged feel free not to watch. Remember also that had all of this been done as a collection of the best solo fights from a corp of solo players they could have released the video whenever they wanted and no one would have said a thing because they would not have known. I hope OMC doesn't shut down but if it did I will simply be slightly disappointed as I move on with life.

I shudder to imagine the entitlement you'd see where it was warranted. For example, if I were Chris Roberts and Star Citizen ends up as a failure I might consider a solo effort at colonizing the moon.

I will almost undoubtedly not see the video in the first few days as I will continue to check back here about once every 7-10 days and I will continue to do other things in the meantime. Release the thing whenever you are ready Miz, I will watch it then. The only thing you have to worry about is as time drags on more people will forget this is a thing.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

Unfortunately, while I agree with the bulk of this, one key point is wrong: all submissions are under restriction because no one has been informed of their fight's status and thus risk losing prizes even if their fight is one of the hundred that don't get a prize.

It's not the winners that are hurt the most, it's everyone else that submitted a fight.

At least let those who submitted know which of their fights is out; at this point, you're so far over schedule I can't see any reason for restricting the losers under the guise of mystery over who made the cut or not.

Besides, it might build some excitement back up...

Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad thing to release the list of winners. Also I agree with an earlier statement of weekly updates. It doesn't have to be anything major, just a quick update on progress that lets know how it's going. Anyway, being a video editor myself I know how long this stuff takes, so I will patiently wait for the release of the video. Big smile

Hey all

When we initially discussed it I got the idea that most people were interested in that we waited with announcing the winners until the video release. Now that things have been going slowly (as described earlier) I have been getting a lot of requests to announce the winners and give out the prizes. This will allow everyone who didn't make it to release their own videos and the winners can make use of the prizes rather than it just collects dust on the OMC char.

So therefore I intend to announce the winners tomorrow (12th August) at 18:00 EVEtime. Prizes will be sorted over the following days.

As for the video I am still unsure what to do. However I got a 4th editing helper now.
