upgrading POS tower

Hi i want to upgrade my POS tower, now do i need to get everything of of the structures and offline and unanchor everything? or is it as simple as taking down current tower and put up the new one?

Everything must be removed before you can remove the tower.

Or you can just go to the next available moon in the system, put up the new tower and then move everything over.
