I'm starting another Cloaky Camper Thread

This mechanic allows for a way to bother people endlessly, with no risk involved. I don't want it removed, I like the idea of covert cyno's, the ability to hide a bit, and the black ops bridging is pretty sweet. But all these activities should at least require you to be at the computer.

BUT...

All I'm asking for is a little balancing.

Option 1:
cloaks uses fuel.
Option 2:
make a way to scan for cloaked ships.
Option 3:
make a cloak only last for 5 minutes so you have to be there to restart it

I'm going to keep talking about this until a change is made. The fact that a lot of people will say "OHHH here we go again" shows many people feel very strongly about it, because it is a constant topic.

Oh, thanks for reminding me. I need to check chat logs when I get home from work so I can see how butthurt people got while I wasn't at my keyboard.

Passive tear harvesting is just as wonderful as passive ISK generation.

Excellent, I appreciate you proving my point.

1. You only do it to make people enjoy the game less.

2. You do it without risk, when you are not even at the computer.

Please don't.
At least not until you manage to do something that the other 50 billion threads on the topic failed to do: define an actual problem that needs to be solved.

Ok. Enjoy the eventual (inevitable) ban for refusing to follow the forum rules.

Or we could remove local instead, then the AFK cloaky will truly be cloaky.

If they're afk they're not bothering anyone. The only thing causing people to complain about it is their own mindset and the fact they want all the benefits of 0.0 without any risk at all.
Threads like this are exactly why afk cloaking is done....well that and the fact most renters will pay them decent amounts of isk to leave their system and bother their neighbours instead.

They should add a module which allows the cloaky camper to read corp chat messages posted by anyone in the system after they've been cloaked in a system for an hour. Call it a communication interceptor or something.

CCP, Nerf the boogeyman.. and peoples imagination.

Cloaking is harmless.
AFK is harmless.
AFK Cloaking is like a sleepy kitten wrapped in a fleece blanket, on a pillow, surrounded by baby ducks.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The most common ratting/plexing ship today is the 100mn passive ishtar. A full aligned ishtar, fit in this way is a b*tch to bump. If I can't bump it, and the ishtar is aligned and paying attention, even a bomber with no decloak delay will not be able to tackle them.

Ignoring all of the other issues with this topic, there is LITERALLY nothing to fear from an afk cloaker if you are full aligned and paying attention.

Stop being ignorant of basic eve mechanics.

I have lost many ships around null, there is no activity that is no risk other than cloaking and sitting in a system while you are not at the computer.

Humorously indecisive as to whether it's better to sleep or have fun?

So you're not very familiar with nullsec, in other words.

And it's the only activity which doesn't generate any isk or profit for the person who's afk. They're risking nothing but gaining nothing. (exvcept if someone else decides to give them something for doing it).

Reported for redundant topic.

Oh, and cloaks are fine, grow a spine.

If it is a redundant topic, it is a reoccurring topic. Which warrants attention from ccp either way.

No. It just warrants an insta-lock and account warning.

This thread comes up on almost a weekly basis. In fact, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a nerf cloaking thread in the first 2 pages on this forum section. Almost every single one of them goes like this:

1. OP posts a post with a new (lol) idea that always boils down to some variation of the following:
- "There's a big meanie who is sitting in my system and not doing anything, but I don't know where he is and I can't ever just go next door. I can't find said meanie and even though I know that he's probably at work and poses no threat at all, I wont do anything in my system that I absolutely can't leave ever because he might not be at work and I might lose a ship. CCP please stop the meanie from being able to do nothing to me because he's probably at work"

2. Thread gets trolled because its been done literally to death. This horse has been beaten so hard and so often that it's little more than a memory of a memory of a red smear on the grass, and yet it STILL WONT DIE! In fact it's been done so many times that this particular horse is now undead; even if it does die, it will still be remembered and parodied.

3. Someone comes along and suggests that AFK cloakers can't hurt you, because they are, by their very definition, AFK. No one ever lost a ship to someone who ISN'T PLAYING THE GAME.

4. Someone else comes along and points out that while the cloaker might be AFK, he might not be, and so we have Schrodinger's Hot Dropper. The cyno pilot who might be AFK... but he might not be as well, and you will only know for sure when he decloaks, points and lights his candle. (Yes, I know this isn't how the cat works)

5. Someone else comes along and suggests that you use bait and setup a TARP. Or have a defence fleet on standby. Heaven forbid you have to actually fight to defend your space.

6. A further person comes along and suggests that the problem isn't cloaking AFK in your system that you can't possibly leave ever, but that you KNOW that the person is AFK in your system... and perhaps local should be removed because free 100% accurate intel is probably not the best thing in the game and if you didn't know that the big meanie was in your system, you wouldn't be worried about leaving the undock/POS.

7. Then another person pokes their head in and complains that local is 100% NEEDED because D-Scan and probing are such bad mechanics, and IF YOU TAKE MY LOCAL AWAY IM QUITTING FOREVER AND NO YOU CAN'T HAVE MY STUFF!

8. Someone asks if they can have 7's stuff.

We end up with another thread which goes on for pages and pages between complains about local, defence fleets, inability to just go next door, people who aren't playing the game but are playing the meta, lots of bickering and in the end nothing gets solved. CCP wont remove cloaking because it would mess with waaay too many things and it creates content (which is a good thing) by removing content (which is a bad thing) but they can't really think of any way to do it without a complete overhaul of the local and scanning systems.

Now that I've had this entire thread's conversation, can we just let it die? Please?

And on the eighth day CCP made spaceships, which made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

I don't do it just to make them enjoy the game less. It's called asset denial...and the beautiful part is that my actions deny them nothing. It's their own fear and paranoia that ruin their ISK generation.

Would it make you feel better if I lit a Cyno every once in a while?

No, it doesn't. The ONLY thing you need to do to not die to a cloaker (afk or otherwise) is to click 'align' and pay attention.
