Exploration: Is Virus Strength Stat Supposed to be Capped at 40?

Today, I attempted to fly a Stratios with T2 data and relic analyzers and a coherence rig for relic sites. My main idea behind this fit was to be able to eliminate the Defensive Firewall structures that randomly propagate on the grid. With 50 hit points and 40 points of attack, this module acts like the cleaver that keeps pilots away from that sweet, sweet loot.

The T2 analyzers give me a base attack setting of +40. The Stratios gives two significant bonuses: a 37.5% to scanning probe strength, and +10 to Virus strength. Given that the Firewall defensive subsystem has a hp/damage ratio of 50/40, this ship would be able to destroy the structure before receiving the 40 point damage. However, once I landed on grid, I noticed my ship still only applied the 40 points inherent from the T2 relic analyzer. It was as if the +10 strength bonus of the Stratios was not applied.

Is this "working as intended' or should the Virus Damage Cap should be lifted to allow an offensive 50dpm (damage per module) for the SOE scanner ships with T2 scanning modules?


Edit: Obviously even with the 50 damage points you can apply, pilots will still encounter Restoration Nodes and Virus Suppressors, which can be a huge pain in the ass.

Sounds like something going awry to me. There is no explicit limit to the virus coherence and strength you could gain through bonus' just the implicit limit in combinations.

Sooo, in all this time, CCP never actually put T2 analyzers on bonused hulls with rigs just to make sure it functioned correctly? I hate to sound rude, but...isn't this the reason you 'imbedded' QA into every team?

Honestly, with the sheer number of very obvious things that have been broken these last two patches....how's that "imbedded QA" working for you guys?

As I said it sounds like something is going awry. We're in the process of investigating it to see what has happened.

None of that even remotely suggests that we haven't previously tested this functionality.

So sticking the T2 Analyzer on an Atron and you'll have a Strength of 30. Put the same Analyzer on a Stratios and you get a Strength of 40.

The bonus is being applied it's just the base level is 30 not 40. Big smile

Yep, I feel like a fool now. I usually fly a Cheetah which also has the +10 to strength as a role bonus. That's where I got my base VS level from...that and the 40hp attribute. Oops

On another note, that means that 40vs is the current limit yes? Everything else I've seen (rigs+implants) seems to only modify coherence. With a specific rig to either data or relic + the similar 905 implant, does virus coherence then max out at 135?

60 base for T2 Module
50 modified by scanning skill to V
10 modified by Small Emission Scope Sharpener I or Small Memetic Algorithm Bank I
10 additional vc by using T2 rigs (20 vc total for T2)
5 modified by HC-905/AC-905 implant

tl;dr I messed up during my initial rant, now i want confirmation that 135vc / 40vs is the current max stat for exploration.
