We need a new forums software

This forum is kind of bland and doesn't provide nearly as many options as we should be able to have. I'm not trying to sound rude or anything but when I used to program and I had people on my server the cheapest forum software I would use was Vbulletin which is only like $300. Please take this into consideration :)

So good of you to volunteer the $300. Normally people suggest CCP spend money without a thought to assisting them. By the way, this IS the "new" forum.

It's okay don't get me wrong but it doesn't provide too many features for the amount of playerbase that actually uses the forum. The forum is very bland and has nearly no effort put into it. I'm very picky when it comes to forums as you can see lol.

He didn't volunteer $300, he did what my wife does: find a good deal, then try to sell me on the idea of buying it for her.

Hi. I'm new to EVE and I wanted to make a suggestion that in one stroke makes me A.) seem brilliant and insightful, and B.) gets me noted as a significant new-comer. SO...I decided to choose the forum software. You know, this forum software seems kinda sucky. I've used other forums and they let you put banners and pictures and stuff RIGHT in the middle of the posts. Hell, it may take half an hour to scroll down just ONE post, but hey, I can find really cool pictures on the internet along with the best of them.

CCP, get on this right away. And, when you're done with that, you STILL haven't painted my kitchen.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Compared to the old forums this is positively luxurious.

The discussion you're trying to start is a couple of years out of date, we went through this when somebody at CCP decided the old forums were pants and then proceeded to break a perfectly good open source forum package to make the current iteration of the forums, they've kind of fixed it since then, we can't log in as Devs by changing a cookie anymore.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I don't understand why people troll in the first place. It's quite irritating if you ask me. Why not be yourself is that too much to ask for ?

I think the contained features of the forum aren't evidence of lack of effort, but evidence of how much effort has gone into keeping the place somewhere people actually come to.

Inline pictures, signature pictures and other features present in other forums used to be available. That didn't work out too well.

Only addition I'd like to see is a downvote/upvote feature for threads and a dislike feature as well as the like feature.

I'm so glad people can't put imbedded pictures into their signatures and posts. That would really **** up the forum.

Add bounty button would also be good.

Me too. Look what happened to the DUST forums when CCP threw them that squirrel to distract them from The Great Fanfest Fiasco of 2014.

If you were around and remember the problems there were when they changed to this forum from the old one, you wouldn't ask them to change anything to do with the forums again.

First rule of EvE - if it's not broken, don't ask them to do anything to it.

This is false. What we SHOULD be able to have is a platform on which to communicate ideas between players and developers, and that's exactly what we do have. Any additional features on top of that are frills, things we COULD have, not what we SHOULD have.
