New Eden Cannon Ball Run 2014!!

Where:
The race would encompass a full circle with checkpoints in low sec / Null Sec around New Eden.

When:
This will be a yearly event in August, The race will start exactly 24 hours prior to the Alliance Tournament.

How:
There will be 10 checkpoints encompassing New Eden, which will only be available to people running the race as they will be in a fleet together. The checkpoints will be cloaked pilots dropping cans first come first serve. However the checkpoint systems will be broadcast with the broadest dissemination 24 hours prior to race start with the race participants names and ship type.

Way points:
Certain pilots in the race fleet will be checkpoints, racers will have to warp within 10KM of them to receive an item which will be proof that they completed the checkpoint. These checkpoint pilots will be located in Low and Null space. Racers will have full knowledge of [checkpoint pilot and system pair]. Checkpoint pilot will confirm the pilot is in the race fleet and drop a can with an item for the racer to pick up and continue on his/her race. Racers are not to warp at 0 on the checkpoint pilot if you do this the checkpoint pilot may call for you to be disqualified. You may check in with the checkpoint pilot 1 jump prior to entering the check point system, once in system the check point pilot will then tell you to warp to 10KM to them and collect your item or items which will be located in a can on the grid.

Mechanics:
All but one checkpoint will have a pilot waiting there to drop a can, However there will be one checkpoint with no pilot until called on fleet chat to drop a can. The pilot will then have to survive in system waiting for the checkpoint pilot to arrive and drop a can for him.

Registration:
Racers have to register at-least 24 hours prior to the race start with a 10M entry fee and in game mail to Savageminion.

Rules:
1. Racers have to collect all items from the 10 different checkpoint systems to be inspected at the finish line first one with all the items at the finish line wins.
2. Racers may target/engage other racers, however not the checkpoint pilots if you warp at 0 or engage a checkpoint pilot you may be disqualified.
3. No cloakie vessels
4. Ship types are limited to interceptors and below in ship class, yes you may use a Leopard however there are check points in Null Sec you may get caught by a bubble.
5. Teams may be used, however only three pilots per alliance/corp or three individual racers per alliance/corp.
6. Checkpoints may be traversed randomly. However checkpoint pilots will be recording the pilots so if a pilot shows up at the finish line with all items from one team saying he has traversed all way points and has not he and his team will be disqualified, team should only be useful for protection.

Prizes:
First place: 1 Plex + 50% Cash Pot + Title of Cannon Ball Winner for that year.
Second place: 25% Cash Pot.
Third Place: 15% Cash Pot.
Fourth Place: 10% Cash Pot.
Continuation: In the event one pilot kills all other pilots that pilot collects all prizes.

This really sounds like a free way to get ganks on people to me. Even if not by you every pirate group in EVE has read this. And knows a dozen systems about to have traffic.

Sounds pretty cool! Gotta ask though - what will happen if the racers arrive too close together for the checkpoint pilots to poop another can for them?

The check point pilots have been instructed to drop a can if a pilot grabs what he needs then destroys that can or if that location becomes compromised i.e. (Pilots start camping) the Checkpoint pilot will then warp to a secondary location and drop another can and broadcast that the site is ready for pilots to warp in. Checkpoint pilots will have multiple drop locations in there respective checkpoint systems.

This is part of the race mechanic, Nothing in EVE can kill an interceptor with a good pilot at the helm this has been either a misconception or a rule for a while now. The point of this race is to find the pilot or pilots that prove this rule or misconception.

Rule addition:
In the event that all pilots have been killed the pilot that has the most items from the checkpoints effectively making it the farthest will receive all prizes accept the title of Cannonball Winner 2014 that title will go unclaimed.

Only one player signed up he will be refunded "coppy" and given an extra 100m for at least showing interest. Thanks Coppy. Race did not happen as we did not get enough support.
