Part of the beauty (and frustration at times) of playing EVE is the leveling system; on one hand you don't have to do anything. You can pop a skill in the que and wait; technically, you don't even have to play the game to level your skill. There really is no level grind that can be found in other MMO's.

Having said that, the biggest part of EVE, is patience. If you think your drake dps is too low (it's been established by plenty of posters that it is) then it isn't going to get any better in a battleship. And if anything, you'll be an even bigger target for those on the prowl. As a player that has participated in those hunts, battleships make big, juicy targets, especially if being flown by a toon that's barely a month old. Pirate

Take everyone's advice and work on the Drake (or even switch down to a cruiser). The nice thing about the B.C. is that it uses the same sized weapon systems (with the exception of the one for each faction that uses B.S. sized turrets) and the same sized mods as the cruiser, so when training for one, you're also training for the other. While you may be able to make iskies in a battleship (which you can do in any size ship), the loss of a battleship is going to hurt your wallet more than it will help it.

Regradless, good luck!

Wow. Just wow.

I've been playing 2 years and I use frigates and cruisers almost exclusively.

Which is what prompted my "wow" reply, because I spent the last year in the same assault frigate doing L1/L2/storyline/etc and building my standings and bank account just fine. I only moved to a Drake 3 weeks ago because I finally had T2 skills for everything on it, and I finally got done with the career agents and had L3 available for all 4 factions. Seemed like the right time, so now I roll around in my plain jane Drake with T1/T2 equipment. Next up, my ~180d slog to be properly stout in a Rattlesnake, as well as maximizing my Machariel sniper that is already built and fitted for incursion sniping.

And since I won't be doing L4s until I have all 4 factions at 5.00, I have time to wait and get good with my Drake. Cool

That sounds really exciting. What are you going to train after that?

Not sure if this aimed at me or not, but I haven't really figured it out. So much game to be done and seen in frigs, cruisers and specialty cruisers, plus just doing the faction epic arcs and L4s in a rattler...I hadn't gotten that far.

I have a Logistics alt account, so not that. Maybe I'll join a corp and they can pick. Who knows. It's 6 months away, and that's if I don't take any BS skill to V.

There's just so much game for smaller ships....I don't really worry about the bigger stuff yet.

Way back when I used to fly the bigger ships as soon as I could sit/fit em. But I was just running missions and I was sitting in new ships before being able to move up a mission level. Also missions at that time were way way easier, now it would be a terrible idea.

I am finding that smaller ships are whole lot more fun (and at times more effective). Frig V and cruiser V may seem like serious slogs when you're just starting the game but these skills pay massive dividends. Same applies to the associated weapon systems to V. T2 ships are sweet, and to me, more fun than BS boats. <3 running 3's in a Jaguar and some 4's in a Vaga.

An unskilled BS in any form/activity just sounds like the most tedious thing ever.

So why are you waiting 6 months to train frigs? Why are you grinding isk for 6 months and then grinding more isk for? That's like a year of grinding when you can just start enjoying the game now and it costs you basically nothing.

I am not waiting to train frigs? Maybe I mistyped something, but I've been cruising around in an assault frigate for over a year. I do my lowsec wanderings (exciting for me to just wander around) in my very first Kestrel, etc. I have CovOps to IV and Interceptors to II, but only Caldari based right now, and I am not sure if I like light missiles on PVP-centric ships, or do I take my projectile skills and really go hard with Minmatar stuff.

Oh no, I use my frig all the time. And I will do either expploration or go be a professional tackler at some point, but right now I just want my PVE mission future set up so I have it there if I feel like solo mission grinding, and I wanted to get better with slow ship skills, doing stuff you typically don't worry about when your frig goes 3km/s, like aligning, the MWD warp trick, etc. And a Drake in a lot of repetitive L3s is helping me accomplish a bunch of stuff all at once. So right now, Drake L3 PVE wins.

But I'll totally be back to frig based stuff soon enough. I love the relic/data minigame and the whole exploration thing. I have all my scanning skills either at II or III and as I do with everything, will start seriously doing that stuff when they are all IV or V, but that's a side goal right now, something to do when I am bored. Right now though, I am not bored. I know to older EVE players it sounds goofy, but having all four empire factions above 5.00 so I can run all their epic arcs is my main goal in game right now and has been for a while. I still like PVE missions.

The thing about LMs is that the DPS difference between those and rockets isn't much and the application bonuses aren't much and the range bonuses are ******* huge. LMs are far superior and it makes me sad to see you tell me your training schedule for the next 6 months ;c

Yeah, I am not sold on guns for small and fast, but a buddy has a Blarpy he really enjoys. I'd go with my normal LM setup at first, since it's all at V now anyway, and just start goofing with that. Just pondering things. I ponder EVE more than I play it I think. =)

I'll end up being a tackler at some point, but like I said, I am not bored of PVE missions yet, and I like padding the faction, LP and ISK. And missions are easy, so for now I mission. Lots of EVE to play yet, and my overall point is I am not in any sort of hurry.
