I like the idea of sharing in general ... BUT not in an all or nothing fashion as presented. Make it possible to add fellow presets to your current profile which you can chose from but don't mess up with your current setup. This would ne a nice feature.

I'm my own NPC alt.

If another pilot clicks the link, your overview will completely overwrite his/hers.

there will be a yes/no confirm dialog right? I am just asking since we all know what you can do with links in eve. e.g hide them as killmail links to make others press them etc.

edit: please ignore, it has been already answered in the thread, there will be a dialog

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Does this mean we can finally have more than 5 overview tabs? If that's the case then you're my new favourite dev.

Some of you want ability to "restore" your overview... remember that you can always create a link to your overview the way you like it, so the best way I see to do this (rather than us implementing some "restore overview" behavior) is to create a link with the overview you are happy with and store it in for example your notepad (or bio if you don't mind other people seeing it, or corp bulletins etc). That wway you could store links to many overviews like "pvp overview", "mining overview", "overview for noobs", and if you happen to override your overview with something you don't like, clicking one of those links will restore it.

We want to keep this fairly simple, but if you want to do something advanced like that, you can import/export.... will that work for you?

Can overview settings include colortags and backgrounds, not just preset states & column info? Column/tab info, that is .basically "global" overview settings ought to mean global, not "everything but colors"

That should be that way now... colors, priorities, and everything you can set in the "overview setting" window... if that's not the case, please let us know and we'll fix it Smile

I don't post here much, but this brought me out of lurking...

Hey CCP, you have a perfectly cromulent system for how to share overviews already in game. MAKE IT EXACTLY LIKE THE SHARED FITS system. PRESTO, it's super simple to use, you already know how to code it, and everyone gets the features they wanted from it.

IE: instead of overwriting whatever your current overview is (seriously, this was your idea?), it opens the overview settings window and shows the new overviews' settings. (just like a fit) and then lets you name and save it to your list of overviews (just like fits).

Put these overview links into your corp or alliance bulletins or chat MOTD.

At first I was really looking forward to tricking people into clicking blank overview profiles in local. :D

Then saw the warning dialog comment. :(

Oh, well.

Can you make that automatically back up your current overview before applying the changes? I know there's a confirmation box but with such a radical change that completely overwrites everything, I think it'd be a good practice to automatically back up the settings before overwriting them.

This could use the existing export function, by exporting it as eg. YYYY/MM/DD_backup_001 or something automatically.

I think it's a bit of an ugly workaround for something which can be messed up with 1 click... If you're adding the feature, I'm sure we'd all benefit you spending the extra few hours to add the necessary polish to it with a revert.

Something like this is needed. Otherwise people will post, in systems with several new players (but not rookie systems) "Great overview settings! Click and accept this!" only to see their overview trashed, and, being rookies, have no idea what to do to recover.

Having an "are you sure" button is helpful, but I cannot really be sure if I cannot see the details of what I am accepting.

While you're in there, can you fix the bug where when importing 5 overview tabs, the import process breaks because it can't create the 5th imported tab (because the limit is 5, and you always have 1 or more, or at least the default tab).

When the process dies in the middle of importing, many things like the tab setting:tab name mapping gets messed up, taking several minutes of tweaking to restore.

I'll check this out on the test server later but on the list of overview bugs that this does or does not fix.

Do these changes fix:

Pulling up the overview using a short cut allowed a person to change the settings but not save them. Will this fix clean up that issue.

While changing the whole overview is nice. This functionality misses out on the ability to add tab specific overview layouts as a reward for doing steps in the NPE.

Does this change clean up the tabs and generic layout conflicts in the settings tab? IE generic layouts do not populate the drop downs in the window until they are used in a saved layout.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

See you around the universe.

I can't wait to try this out in Sisi. Updating as soon as they take the work shackles off.
