I'm not a New Citizen but it feels likes it.

Played since RMR in 2006 but quit in 2010. I've just woke up an old alt from 2007 with only 5m SP, 11m ISK and a Rifter. I'm really wanting a fresh start.

I've noticed quite a lot of changes since I last played in 2010. So I'd hate to get laughed at because of dodgy 2010 Rifter fit on a kill mail and such.

If there's one major change you think I should really know about since 2010 then please post it below.

I don't want to find myself in a similar situation to the one Scotty had on the Enterprise-D.What?

There's tons and tons of changes, rebalancing, new ships, new modules, changed mechanics&gameplay and whatnot. Too much to mention really. Just start from scratch, redo the tutorials, read up on stuff and slowly ease into it again.

Yes, yes I am. Thanks for noticing.

i'd frankly advise you to spend some days on the eve-uni wiki, reading up on EVERYTHING that sounds roughly relevant. here is a good start: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Minmatar_Basic_Ship_and_Skill_Guide

I should buy an Ishtar.

I'm a bittervet when it comes to returning to the game and warming up old characters. I usually just start over and go through the whole new player experience again to see how fast and how far I can go with what I've learned the times before. Don't think of your ignorance as a burden but as an asset: you get to experience discovering the game all over again with a new perspective.

That's another of those major changes. EVE now has tutorials that are actually worth doing.

Rifters and heavy missiles got nerfed, I know that for sure.

Agree. Start a new character and redo the NPE just to get you back in the saddle at least, too much has changed in those 4 years to easily jump back into the game.

I feel like things are mostly the same, but still probably worth running the career agents, and the SoE epic arc just to get back in the swing of things.

then take some time to look over the ships as most have gotten a number of changes since then (funny I think the rifter is more or less the same, but used far less due to the number of other options), oh and of course look at the new shiny ships!

Rifter is more or less the same, as that was the only frigate that was properly done (hence everybody was flying it).

Now all the frigates have their use and because of that, people tend to go for other things then the oldtimer

Welcome back to Eve.

Probably the most significant change was the removal of the skill group 'Learning Skills' and the condensing of the Agent Division 'Connections' skills.

Make sure to check your character sheet - skills section - to see if you've got any unallocated skill points available.

Rubicon brought some pretty amazing changes to warp speed ... the tipping point, imo is at the battlecruiser ... your mileage may vary depending on what you fly.

Welcome back.

Mainly I'd point to ship balance changes and changes to module availability (for instance, 'meta 4' items are much more common than they used to be).

There's also been some community changes too. Remember Hulkageddon? It's largely permanent now, people like me are ganking miners in highsec 24/7.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

no seriously, check out the sound tab in the esc menu, you have a ccp whitenoise trash to thank for that.

and no you cant turn the tooltips off but you can put a delay on them (you have the community to thank for that one)

Another major change has been the division of the old skill battlecruiser into four racial ones.

I may be going crazy but did racial armour resists change in the last four years ?

I was sure each race had different damage type holes in it's Tier 1 armour.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
