Implant salvage suggestion

Currently, a player's implants die with their pods. I've seen a number of people mention that they would like to see a system for salvaging these implants, and thought I'd suggest a possible system for doing so.

Firstly, rather than dropping a corpse, a destroyed pod would drop a container ("player x's worldly remains") containing the current frozen corpse and possibly 1 or more 1-run implant BPCs. In order to not make podkilling throughout Eve endemic, the chance and type of drops would be as follows:

Each implant has a low (possibly 20%) chance of dropping as a BPC. Implants are probably very fragile, and probably don't hold up well to explosive decompression.

Each BPC would be of 1 level lower than the original implant due to wear & tear, for example a 5% implant would drop a 4% BPC, while a mid grade pirate implant would become a low grade. Unique implants and those already at the lowest grade would not drop.

The low drop rate and decrease in quality coupled with the already existing high sec status hit for podkilling is intended to moderate the impact of this mechanic, hopefully making sure that any dropped rewards are bonus loot for normal pvp rather than a major incentive towards suicide podkilling.

lore wise you have a problem. Please do tell us how right before my say pod death why would I find this strange urge to draw up a bp for the implants in my head. Vice, you know, sending that final goodbye message home, gf, etc.

Or why would I program my pod to do this. Lets say you popped my pod, why am I being such a nice guy about that to handover 1 downgraded say hg snakes. In pvp venues past you got mods dropped, ammo dropped and about as nice as side present you were getting was however many militants I had collected from pve missions (always put a few of these in cargo for the wtf???? lols when killed and guy saw mail or in drop).

Also...if I have this magical ability to make a bp of the implants in my head....please tell me why I would not be making this bp to make more implants......while I am still alive and long before this fight.

The blueprint would represent a damaged yet repairable implant. If it makes you happy, have it drop as an item that can be reprocessed into a BP or implant.

Yea! No because reasons! I object but I won't tell you why! It's different and change scares me!

That's how a post like that reads to me, why even bother?

With that being said, I kinda like the idea of adding some value to corpses, and I like the idea that a damaged implant would have a chance to be turned into a repaired item. What if we took it a step further and gave them attributes related to the circumstances of the death, meaning that a pilot dying in an Inty might drop an implant that gives a +1% to agility as well as the other reduced statistic. Adds something a little different but is balanced by there being 0% of getting that implant and a maxed base stat.

If you're going to respond with a derp response like up there, just get back under your bridge and save everyone the time. Smile

Not sure where this came from, we seem to be doing fine in the other thread.
But if you care to check the other threads, you might get a (the) picture. A skill or afk-cloak for example comes up almost every day, during weekends multiple times, you think we like to respond every time again and again ? Some ppl can use the SF too, before posting, and read and not blab out another redundant idea and let us do the work by shifting the burdon of proof and liniking threads and arguments they should have chacked in forehand.

And I don't understand how you conclude from 'no' a 'being scared of change' Shocked

That being said, its still 'no'.

Yea man, we're doing good in the other thread. Smile I'm just being an ass in here.
I know that this comes up a lot, but if you don't want to respond then don't and just leave it as a dead thread instead of feeding trolls. I actually think that this wasn't a bad idea for what it is. Is it a good idea, maybe/maybe not, but it's not a terrible like the threads about being able to reprocess and get the same implant that just went Kablooey
I know there's plenty of trolls that love to put up these threads to get their kicks, but telling them to use the search bar just means they'll post it again with a different alt. I like to encourage them to try harder, put more time into their ideas, like they're on the verge of a great idea. Really make them work for their nothing prize.

Let's not forget how part of them implants somehow get saved by who knows what while we can't even perform something remotely close in an equipped and staffed medical bay...

I like scooping corpses, stuffing them in cargo containers, and looking at them. Rather than do what the OP suggested, how about this: Add another skill in the same category as implants that allows players a chance to extract implants from corpses they find. Call it Forensics, or something like that. For a corpse in inventory, a player with the Forensics skill would have a menu option to "Attempt Implant Extraction". A dead corpse with several implants would have a % chance that each implant would not have been damaged by the explosion of the deceased player's ship, and thus might be recoverable. Each skill level of Forensics would give an increased chance of successfully extracting any undamaged implants from the corpse's cranium. This feature would create a new role in game play: Undertaker.

The entire point of implants was for them to be a way to enhance your abilities through a dedicated investment without it being a monetary reward to those that pop you. -1
