Hello guys,
i was wondering which ship to choose for belt ratting. I'm almost positive that rats will be serp.
My wondering is mostly for Ishtar and Naga. Tengu is far more expensive for me as i'm a new player to eve.

Thanks in advance

As it stands right now, and if you have the drone skills.... Ishtar hands down for pretty much everything short of hauling...

No Worries

Bit more info then Blink i assume you mean null sec...?

For a new player prob the fastest way to make isk in null is exploration (relic/data sites) get your probing/hacking skills to 3/4 (pretty quick train), get a scanning ship and make monies.

Once you got that under your belt, you can start training for whatever you like Big smile

Sorry, Yes in null :)
Money are not an issue. One of my friends are really old player, so he transfered me 2Bil.

But i will follow your advice and will start learning probing/hacking

I'm just started to read bout the game, it is pretty steep learning curve i think.
thank you again :)

exploration is great for making isk. if you are in a proper null corp and not a renter scrub check what the doctrine ships are. you can rat is pretty much any ship so focus on getting into a usefull doctrine ship first and get the support skills up.

With 145k sp you won't be able to hunt rats in null belts.
Those are regularly battleship sized and you need to do more dps than their regeneration ability.

Given your early start (and focussing on belt ratting as others have already provided alternatives) I would suggest the following:

Begin by training for the Algos, even with quite basic skills it is a potent little ship. You will have to pick the spawns you engage quite carefully but you should be able to do enough to earn money on your own. More importantly the Algos (with its reasonably free highslot choice) fitted with salvagers and tractors will allow you to contribute nicely when teamed up with your friend (or any others who are willing to help). You will have to learn a great deal, quickly before you can be comfortable soloing in it but if you can get your head around things like TV Tanking you should be able to.

Move on to the Vexor (Navy Issue given your lack of budget restrictions). Even the T1 is happily capable of solo belt-ratting and the Navy even more so. Using heavies is probably your best option at this stage as you'll be orbitting close enough that you should be able to pull them in. It's not going to be the quickest way of making money but it does serve.

Your next step will either be the Myrm (a significant increase in tank and much less hairline piloting required) or the Ishtar.

confirming advice above. exploration can be profitable, but a little more dangerous and more random than ratting. gallente drone ships are good for ratting for a new player.

what you can also do is fly a blaster destroyer. it is a little more difficult to not get blown up but it is also more fun.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Naga all the way, kill those rats at 180km and never take damage (Unless they have turrets, bu those are easy to pop).

Nightmare is probably the best way to be able to master belt ratting quickly.

Train both BS to level 2 and upgrade the fit to faction until you get your skills up. Faction guns/launchers do the same damage as T2 but are more expensive. Go faction until you skill up to T2.

I start ratting in null when i got skill to fly with cap stable this ship, it's little expensive due to my skill (now i got better but start that ship):

Vexor Navy Issue - 561 dps with my skill

low slot :

Power Diagnostic System II
Power Diagnostic System II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

med slot:

Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Extender II (i use 1 caldari shield extender becaus not enaught cpu or power - don't remmember)
Domination 100MN Afterburner
Pithum B-Type Kinetic Deflection Amplifier

hi slot:
Drone Link Augmentor I

rig slot:
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

1x Caldari Navy Hornet
2x Caldari Navy Wasp
2x Gecko

Use evehq, evemoon or other tool and try be cap stabble (use skill book like Fuel Conservation) - you need be cap stable or you don't get good tick cash. I still fly that fit and can get for tick in forsaken hub 11-12k not much but start with little more that 1 mil SP. This fit i use on guristars so change Kinetic Defflection for rat dmg.

Now i fly other fit becaus got better skill but with that fit i can easy stay on Forsaken Hub and run only when see more that 2 motifire (hit hard wichout ressist) but always someone in system and fly to me kill them ;)... just orbit asteroid with afterburn and kill rats.

Sorry for my gramma
