Mobile Covert Jump Beacon

Hey all,

Not sure if this has been proposed already.

How about a mobile structure that can be deployed in space allowing a solo jump in a ship equipped with a covert jump module. Thinking about it there would need to be two of these beacons deployed to facilitate a return jump. The usual jump limitations relating to skill would need to be observed. The beacons would be deployed in space and could be scanned down rather than being a directly warpable structure. A finite lifetime would exist once deployed but the stricture would be reusable if scooped within the time limits. The structure would be limited to the use by the deploying pilot.
This could potentially open the possibility of a new ship class or further enhance and/or better utilise the marooned black ops class. How about a pirate class of battlecruiser using this function.

Some useful discussion can be had here unless I've not seen the initial post.

Could be useful, but you have to give more specifics to the structure itself (EHP, packaged size), as well as any timers for the field, or anything else that's special (e.g. "it still needs fuel").

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Ah yes well met.

So wanted to throw the idea out there first to see if it would sink or swim.

I'm thinking the structure should be of a resilient nature to dissuade people from destroying it and really the benefits of keeping the structure intact means that if it gas been located the structure would be campable to await the jumping prey etc. I think there would be an anti cloak range of 10km, this prevents people cloaking within the field. Also a 10km anti warp field means the pilot primarily would be required to exit the field before warping off to a bookmark or celestial etc. The idea here is that the jumper would have a fighting chance to escape the siege although potentially they could be caught with a well drilled squad. Structure would appear on dscan and system scan but would need to be further scanned and the low sig radius would mean an experienced scanner with good skills would be required to locate the structure. Benefits to pilot would be the ability to insert oneself covertly into a system and begin solo hunt/stalker clandestine functions. As alluded to earlier a new ship class for clandestine skirmish operations could be created too.

The structure details

Designation - deployable structure allows the pilot to make short range jumps to solar systems within pilots skill level of Jump Drive Calibration. Additional structure/s would need to be deployed to make a viable bridge.

Shield 30000 hp
Armour 20000 hp
Structure 20000 hp
Shield recharge 3600 seconds

Anti-cloak field 10km prohibitsthe use of a cloaking device within the field
Warp Disruption field 10km
Activation time 30seconds
Can not be deployed within 100km of any starbase, warp gate, covert jump generator or celestial object.
Deployment time limit 48 hours
Skill requirements - Anchoring 5
- Jump Drive Calibration 1
Size 50m3
Signature radius 200m
Limited to use by deploying pilot only

I'm like idea and the potential new tactics to be deployed.

..>Why would anyone use this over a covert cyno, regular cyno or cyno generator?

Well the main idea behind this mobile structure is that is a solo operating structure not requiring other ships to facilitate its use. That's the general idea really.

But it imposes massive penalties that you just wouldn't get simply by logging in an alt and lighting even a regular cyno.

Why would anyone bother?

I would bother.

I play EVE with one account and something silly like this would let me use one of my other two characters as a "cyno alt" of sorts.

Absolutely a +1 from me.

In a solo black ops, jumping yourself into a bubble from which you could not warp or cloak? Really?

Sounds to me like a way to bubble an enemy gang, covert-bridge in a bomber fleet and remain safely able to kite around in the deploying ship.

It's too good for black ops bridging and not good enough for moving a solo blops.

It's only viable use is as a return cyno after a blops drop.
