Is it still a legitimate career in EVE? Can you make actual income from being a bounty hunter?

Is the Minmatar Bounty Hunting Pack a good deal even though it doesn't include RAM and MTU's?

Keep it civil, on topic, and discuss Cool

What is your opinion on the career?

I just made 100mil in bounty Killing a heron full of Sisters Combat Probe Launchers.

I have kind of mixed views on the profession though. It's kind of hard to make consistent money.

When the alternative is widespread abuse of the mechanic, that is preferable imo.

I personally consider it kind of a bonus for killing someone.

Bounty Hunting has always been broken. It isn't as bad today as it was before they attempted to fix it, but it's still broken.

CCP could have made the payout higher to make it more viable.

No they couldn't have. Alongside insurance it's already possible to almost break even when shooting your own alt now. Another 5% 'might' be squeezable out of the system, but that's about the maximum that could be squeezed out of it last time I ran the maths.

Badly broken and pointless. Wont work unless it impacts aggro acquisition.

Only posts discussing your sleep or lack thereof should be allowed to stay.

The payout is where it is because of ship insurance, but that ignores the fact that the ship fittings aren't insurable. If it could be split into 20% destroyed ship value + a much higher percentage of destroyed module value, it would pay out much better than now, and still not be profitable to self-collect.

Bounty hunting is currently pointless. Attack someone... collect money... It will only be viable if we change the philosophy
behind it and give it some teeth. Can a system exist? I think so. I myself have been thinking about it for awhile and my
question for CCP is this. If a new system were to be implemented would CCP allow the bounty hunter to truly punish the
intended target. Punish you say? How? That's something for another day. I would like to know what CCP thinks first before
I continue.

Don't talk of bans and moderation

Alrighty forum warriors,

Quick "Posting 101" lesson:

If the intended thread was titled "Discuss Bounty Hunting" as opposed to the chosen title, the thread would run relatively lower risk of breaking some of the rules that were broken in this thread. The rules broken in this thread that would have had a lower probability of occurring with a separate title:

Quote:
11. Discussion of forum moderation is prohibited.

The discussion of EVE Online forum moderation actions generally leads to flaming, trolling and baiting of our ISD CCL moderators. As such, this type of discussion is strictly prohibited under the forum rules. If you have questions regarding the actions of a moderator, please file a petition under the Community & Forums Category.

30. Abuse of CCP employees and ISD volunteers is prohibited.

CCP operate a zero tolerance policy on abuse of CCP employees and ISD volunteers. This includes but is not limited to personal attacks, trolling, “outing” of CCP employee or ISD volunteer player identities, and the use of any former player identities when referring to the aforementioned parties.

Our forums are designed to be a place where players and developers can exchange ideas in a polite and friendly manner for the betterment of EVE Online. Players who attack or abuse employees of CCP, or ISD volunteers, will be permanently banned from the EVE Online forums across all their accounts with no recourse, and may also be subject to action against their game accounts.

This particular title and theme led to an increase in the following broken rules:

Quote:
5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.

As the OP's title served as the catalyst for the continued rule breakage and in itself isn't in keeping with the forum rules' discussion of forum moderation, the thread is closed. Please take care in your titles, OP's, and comments to ensure that your word usage, phrases, names, and terminology doesn't create a home for posts that violate the rules on these, our great forums. Please always remember to adhere to the forum rules. Thank you!
