No it wasn't, it's crap but it's crap for its own good reasons.
First among them being on console and not pc so it's immediate handicap
Is the hardware, then the actual player base, then the game (which has nothing to do with cod/battle field).

Imo Legion looks broadly like Destiny (in terms of concept) and depending upon the deapth of integration with eve and business model it could be rather unique.

Now it's still ccp developing it so it could fail miserably but I'm tentatively hopeful.

And I'm a fps player so feck off.

ccp remember one thing... I am an EVE player.... everytime you try put some other title... I feel cheated.... especially when you try to put it on different platform..... I dont like that you are waisting human resources on other games You have build your player base through this 10years.... but you are gliding on the edge... really... I bet there are others that want to take your place... and they see and listen prolly this forums too... to learn from your mistakes, So stop waisting our time and start to take care of your eve players... start repairing this game... not for 2years but now, because for 2 years you may wake up with nothing and there will be only fairy tales about eve nothing more...

But they have now trees and lens flares.. if you only wait n+1 years it will evolve into the game you always dreamed of, seriously..

This would probably work if they would target a new audience who isn't used to CCPs way of dreaming publicly about a perfect product and delivering a underwhelming alpha version without any appealing gameplay. They probably destroyed that with Dust. If they ever plan to restart this and make some of the money they put into this project back they have to deliver something new and exciting right from the start or it will perish.

Their only success is EVE so far and I think the essence of what EVE is today was actually an emergent property of how players started to use the game and was in no way planed by CCP. I mean all the build in content is pretty underwhelming, EVE is only successful because of what players do and not because CCP came up whit some innovative gameplay.

Also look at what they presented about EVE Valkyrie. It was something like "It looks really awesome and you think you are in space. And now we try to figure out some gameplay for this new visual toy". I am not sure if you have a chance developing a game that is actually fun if the basic gameplay is something you still try to figure out even after you announced the game itself.

Maybe I am just biter and burned from years of false promises, but at the moment I don't think either one of this projects has a chance. Despite all this I still hope they somehow manage to deliver and show me what a fool I was to doubt them.

I'm gonna disagree. The biggest mistake was not linking it to eve in a meaningful way. If eve players had given a **** about dust players, dust could of found its footing. But as we did not care, dust had no support when it stumbled.

IMO the reason we did not care is that it's not on PC. If it were one could just alt-tab back and forth and switch between ground and space forces on the fly. Though I don't know how the interaction actually plays out. Maybe it's really rudimentary and not engaging at all.

Shocked they're learning to shiptoast.....God help us all.

It has been acknowledged by CCP that cats playing Eve is a problem, and its not considered account sharing.

I don't know if cats shiptoasting on the forums is a problem, as cats tend to be less irritating than people when it comes to their opinions. To be honest, if you look at some of the threads posted recently, I would have rather read a cats first-person account of walking into the middle of a crowded room, flopping down with its leg in the air, and cleaning its anal region with its tongue for 20 minutes.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I still say Sony should have nudged CCP and gave them the specs for the PS4 and asked for the release to be done on the PS4 platform.

I probably would have goofed around with it and at least tried it out had they done that.

Look buddy, GD is the place for whining about Eve and the games that will kill it.

Go to the DUST forums to whine about DUST and how Legion is killing it.

Or the smarter answer would be to open a Legion page. Hell the valkerie- or however it's spelled- got one, not even out yet.

"Project Leigon", for heaven's sake, proofread what you type before your butterfinger hits the post-button!

In serious news, what I heard so far about Legion sounds neat. Hopefully it won't end up like Dust: Slowly dying.

Was reading news articles on it.

What I learned.

1: Dust 514 is now behind the back burner
2: People are pissed at CCP for putting it behind the back burner
3: Instead of making DUST better they simply ignore and start over calling it "Project Leigon"
4: CCP devs at fanfest couldn't accuratly answer questions about DUST514, or back peddled.
5: CCP has yet to put a project Leigon forum slot on the forums.
6: FPS on PC platforms will work. However they are ruining the cross platform reputation.
7: They are going to lose fans for the betrayal.
8: More hollow promises.

If I'm wrong let me know.

1. It's on the back burner.
2. Yes, but Dust-bunnies are always pissed.
3. Dust is a lost cause on a really, really old platform. It will never be what we want it to be on PS3.
4. Welcome to Eve.
5. Wrong. See my previous post.
6. FPS on PC is superior to console. And what cross platform reputation?
7. Dust has the same number of players now as they did before fanfest. By some accounts it actually made the game more fun when all the proto-stomping bitter-vets left.
8. See point 4.

I was super excited for Dust till I found out it was ps3 only. And since the PS4 is out now, they surely should have seen a change coming sometime soon™ how long can a ps3 game be supported at this point?

Legion is Dust for PC, just as everyone and quite a few grandmothers wanted.

Why it somehow kills Dust, when it is Dust, I dont know.

And so was the premise for Dust. Fanbois almost wet themselves when they saw demos of planetary interaction.

No matter what the platform they need to make a good game. Ideas alone do not equal success, the execution has to support the idea.

Well they've been playing Planetside and now Planetside 2 for years now. The problem isn't the attention span of the player, its the depth of the game.

For the love of God CCP please just drop this crap and let us shoot each other in stations and board ships.

So you have a PC based spaceship game with a strong fan following.

What to do next ???

I know ... a Vampire dressup game and maybe a first person shooter ... and lets move it from PC to a console.

yeah that should work out well
