Right click menu change regarding bookmarks (sorry, "saved locations") is TERRIBLE - now your bookmarks are all behind one level of additional sub-menu ("Personal Locations" and "Corporate Locations"). When trying to dig up that POS bookmark for a fast getaway, this is going to get people killed...

I could see the current layout as an option, but the way it worked before today was the correct way - freely mixing your personal and corporate locations that are in the current system, all showing directly under the right click menu.

Sure, you could make them visibly different a single-character icon/letter before them or something, but this submenu system is just... FIX BACK NOW! :bittervet getting bitter:

Edit: to clarify, before today it was like this:

Bookmark 1
Bookmark 2
Bookmark 3

Today it is

Personal Locations > Bookmark1
Corporate Locations > Bookmark 2
...................................Bookmark 3

(with the sub-menus behind > opening when you mouse over)

Acceptable way of tagging them could be:

P: Bookmark 1
C: Bookmark 2
C: Bookmark 3

Still could tell personal and corporate ones apart, but no silly submenus. Letter could be replaced with some kind of icon if needed.

Can't you simply copy important locations in the system from Corporate to Personal folder? I haven't logged after the 1.0.1 patch, but Crucible 1.0 showed all the personal locations where the old "My Places" would show up on the right-click menu.

Why don't you people try this?

Because it would not fix the problem that locations are being forced into sub-folders.

There's enough posts on the subject, but I feel it needs to be emphasized:

Dear devs, when it comes to bookmarks, using folders of any kind needs to be optional and customizable by the user. And until this can be solved, please roll back to the previous mechanic before more people get killed.

If the main patch was about fixing papercuts, then this change was the equivalent of hitting us in the face with a redwood tree. Roll Like many others, I rely heavily on bookmarks whenever I am in space, and you just made that (i.e. being in space) a whole lot less user-friendly, and apparently for no goddamn reason.

Beside my recommendation to keep the context menu open while just use left-click it needs a clear horizontal layout what is known from e.g. OS X file browsing. As I said: right-click will open root menu and left-click on menu items will simply expand the sub-menu to the right side in a clear layout and keeps it open. This looks very handy, fast and perfect to me:

I just wanted to add my .02 that I use folders (submenus) in my own bookmarks, and that having corporate bookmarks in their
own folder (submenu) makes sense to me.

At least until we get an entirely new UI, anyway.

edit: potentially, could there be a system that sorts bookmarks into folders for you by category? this would allow corporate and personal bookmarks to occupy multiple folders side-by-side (possibly with separate colors or markings to indicate which is which)

A possibility would be to categorize your bookmarks when you save them, according to existing ccp or corp designated folders, including "other" or "none" (probably default: none)

Those are the spiritual remains of previous Quafe Ultra drinkers haunting you...

As far as the new nested bookmarks, I agree that there's a survivability issue with that one extra precise action now required after a jump. On the other hand, I don't see any low-sec pirates complaining at all. Was this an unintended bone for them? Pirate

It is becoming obvious that CCP owns a drug company that makes treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.

On a serious note: Submenus is wrong.

We have another saying in my industry - "Never hire an audio engineer who is not a musician."

You (CCP) can apply that to your industry - "Never hire a game programmer who does not play games."

Issues from before patch:

- Ships change flying direction on random when I changeing camera position in space. That's very dangerous in combat FIX IT ASAP pls. It looks like client reconises single Left- click or L-click and hold as a double click which is allign to.
- Windows cannot be pinned - annoying.
- Windows opens in random place not where when i closed them - very annoying.
- Items stacking issues: Items won't stack at random.
- Probing singatures dissapear during scanning but they are still there when you increase scanning radius. I have large
experience in probing both ships and signs so it's not possible im doing it wrong.
- Problems with loading - unloading PCO's with PI materials at random.
- Orca, Hulk, Tempest doesn't have engine trails.
- Mining drones beams are frozen during first cycle of mining.

Nothing was fixed.

All my posts are made shortly after Marihuana consumption.

You (CCP) get paid to provide me (and everyone else playing eve) software that is enjoyable. I use Eve when I am not at work, to do exactly the opposite of that.

I get paid to design and install peoples working environments. The environements I install are basically rooms with many pieces of equipment in them. My clients need frequent access to certain pieces of equipment, infrequent access to others, and little or no access to some. How I set up my client work spaces directly effects thier productivity and enjoyment at work.

Even if I could, I would not design a studio that moved each piece of equipment to a different location in the room everytime another piece of equipment was used. I would also not design equipment that changed sizes, sometimes showing less than all the controllers or information neccesary to make said equipment usable. You (CCP) work for a living. What if your offices were designed like that? You'd want a pay raise for the frustration.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Or does the concept escape you completely?

Game still freezes when trying to fit in a POS. (I thought I read that was to be fixed in today's or yesterday's patch. If not, please ignore.)

Sometimes, you (all of us) get to close to your work. You concentrate so hard on so many details that it's hard to maintain a "big picture" view of what it is you are trying to accomplish.

P1 - "Did you Location that B274?"

P2 - "Did I locate it? Yeah, I'm the one who scanned it down and told you about it. Wtf?"

P1 - "No... did you Loca... Bookmark it?"

P2 - "Oh. Yeah. I locationed it."

I already wrote it in the other issue Thread, but since I got that bug not bevor the 1.0.1. update:

Overview bug:
Warping from Gate A to Gate B and after ariving at Gate B my overview tells me Gate A is 13 km away^^.
Happens everytime Warping, or flying around.
e.g. Setting Orbit to 20km and orbit the gate the gate is still 2km away (if I put my mouse over the gate, the popup shows, it is 20 ish km away)
This happens to me since yesterday. looks like the overview frezes and dont get any updates at all.

I'm trying my hand at constructive criticism. But you know what? It aint working. Criticism is just that. Criticism. And constructive? I don't design games for a living, I wouldn't know where to start in helping you (CCP) figure out the basics, much less the jumbled pile of crap you have here.

So let's just be frank, shall we? We're all adults here. (Me and CCP.)

You are sucking in a big way.

The fact of the matter is, the crucible patch is theoretically the best Eve I've ever been priveleged to play. (Granted I am only a year old.) It is potentially the Eve that makes me want to play Eve more than any other Eve I've expereinced.

But....

I will not spend 20% of my Eve playing time chasing windows around or right clicking when it is not, and there is no reason that would make it, neccesary.

I realize I am only one person (account). But I am one account you are going to lose very soon if Eve does not become user friendly soon. What's my deadline? I don't know... but uh... what is it? 5 or 6 patches in the last week and my ******* windows still do whatever the **** they want? My deadline will be some patches from now. I don't know how many. Less each patch, if you follow.

Get your **** together. Hundreds of thousands of people are counting on you to provide them with entertainment that does not call notice to itself. Do you understand? Have you ever been to a concert where the guitarist was drunk or the sound sucked? 350,000 people paid 85 euro a piece and that's what they get for their money? No matter how good the songs are, or how great the act is, they are having their enjoyment interfered with by the VERY PEOPLE THEY ARE PAYING to bring them that enjoyment. AND to the tune of 1 euro a minute.

You need to get your priorities straight and do what you are capable of. Was there stuff Dio couldn't sing? Of course. That's why he left those bits off his albums and out of his shows. Dio killed because he knew what his audience wanted and he knew his limitations. Sometimes you just have to understand your limitations.

Why am I pissed? Because I want to play Eve. I really love the concept of Eve. There really is nothing else like it in game world.

But I won't continue frustrate myself with this shoddy excuse for gaming software.

That being said, here's a little story for you:

A good friend of mine, a clever and devious military vet with an evil streak and a penchant for gaming, asked me about Eve one day. After hearing about the sandbox, the industry, the PVP, the PVE, and especially wormholes he downloaded the client. I know this guy. Eve is for him. The game play, the subject matter, the interaction... I could harldy wait to fly with him. If any one person is exactly the personality to take advantage of the Eve universe, this man is it. Well, except maybe his wife. (We secretly feared the day she would sign up. None of us would be safe.) Anyway, I am talking about two dedicated sci-fi fans/gamers/role players of way above average intelligence.

I sat on vent with this man 2 - 4 hours a night for 2 weeks when he had to go out of town on business for a month.

Half a year later I saw him at a party and asked him what happened. This was his answer:

"It felt too much like a spreadsheet."

I said yeah, but you are flying a rocket ship in the future, man. You gotta keep track of a lot of stuff.

I continued to believe my position was valid until Crucible came out. I never fully understood what my friend was on about until the actual interface started masking the game I am trying to play underneath it.

Sorry, you guys lost the plot.

Accidentally pressed jump while cloaked in a safespot, warped to gate and jumped. Seriously CCP, no!

*) Bookmarks .. erm.. Locations(?) Ugh moved to subfolder. Please move back, this may look good but isn't player friendly at all. And what's up with the renaming?

*) After warping to a jumpgate or flying to it the distance from ship to gate is inconsistent in overview (as posted already in this thread)

*) Windows still not pinned (Changing window style, *sigh*, at least that describes it).

*) In belt we see 'ghost' miners. The laser beams go from rock to somewhere in space. Weird graphical bug.

*) You removed the F12 bug report feature... pity. Especially the 'make screenshot' with arrows and stuff was convenient.
And your petition team still refers to it as tool to use.

Was never a problem other than CCP not advertising heavily enough to change your probing filters. CCP added signature type check boxes that must be ticked to enable probing at signature strengths greater than ~25%.
