Or, here is another suggestion. If you want to stop being treated like NPCs (as in, disposable content or destructible terrain), stop acting like them. Actually play the game, instead of chewing on asteroids all day like a bot.

Thereupon lies the rub if you will. EVE is pretty unique in that it's meta game (including the forums) actively influences events that happen within the game itself, and has for many years. People spew nonsense on the forums, then someone comes and murders them in game for said nonsense.... it's just another part of the cycle of life in New Eden.

Just the other day I made a smartassed comment on someone's thread. In response to comment, they kindly dropped a 100k isk bounty on me. Did I rage on forums, decry the unfairness of them taking supposed out of game comments in game? Nope, I took it as a compliment that my comment was able to get under their skin just that little bit.

This is the meta.

If OP wants to advocate banning a player for hunting down another player over their idiotic forum post, because "abuse" then why is he not also up in arms over the multitude of bears who blatantly violate the eula with swearing, telling people to go kill themselves IRL, and all the other abuse they feel entitled to dish out? Where's the thread to get all of them banned?

I was talking about mining. The belt rats are barely worthy of being around at all anymore (since they buffed barges, but not the rats, some of the barges can perma tank them), their existence is only justified in lowsec where they can spawn sec status tags and such.

pretty sure everything bigger than the venture can perma tank high sec belt rats, not that they need to with some drones set to aggressive.

I think we may have our lines crossed here. The harassment isn't the aggressor talking about "the lord", it's that he saw that a guy was very upset about being ganked then specifically hunted him down to make him more upset. Supposedly what Erotica 1 did to get banned was upsetting a player who was already upset. According to CCP you are not allowed to purposely upset a player who you already know is upset as that is harassment.


People that can't separate fantasy from reality need to be banned from the game as a service to protect their mental health and quite possibly the physical health of others. It seems without fail that the so called "victim" always wants something violent done to the other, who's simply roleplaying a bad guy. These people need a good shrink not encouragement to ruin our favorite game.

Regardless, roleplaying is not an excuse to break the rules. The implication in the text I quoted was that the roleplay makes the content of the message okay, even if otherwise it wouldn't be. I was addressing that.

It doesn't matter if it's roleplay or not. If it's fine (and it is) it's because it's fine to call someone scum. It's not because it was done in roleplay.

Literally all I'm saying is that whether something is acceptable or not doesn't change because of roleplay.

I am also getting the feeling that the whole thing is staged, and OP has been taken for a ride with the rest of us.

However, the so-called victim being a 2007 character tells me otherwise.. seems like too much work for a spectacle.

The corp name is "Lords of Midnight". So when saying he is doing the "Lord's" work it is pretty easy to argue that he was referring to his corp.

That being said I agree with your comments 100%, its just there is an unusual "but" so although Lucas to his own admission was trolling he did bring up a decent debate.

Sadly that leads to the conclusion that if anything should be petitioned, it is the corp's name. But that is a slippery slope. Ugh
