Is there a way to NOT open new windows or tabs for open containers?

They appear in the inventory tree, having a new window as well is redundant and takes up space.
I believe i had it without new window previously but accidently changed a setting somehow :/

The huge stack of open windows is creating a lot of lag, help appreciated...

1. Open the "Inventory" Window (shortcut ALT-C)
2. Uncheck this setting

Opened containers should create a new entry in the Inventory windows' hierarchy then, without opening a new window.

I tried the checkbox before, but i did not open a fresh inventory screen to do it.
