The Corax is pretty crappy. You put out low DPS and with such a slow ship (slowest dessie i think), you're going to be caught by almost anything. You might be able to kill no tank frigates, but who can't? Other kite dessies will rip you a new one if you stay within point range. As they'll have almost ~75DPS on you.

If you try to use Rockets, you'll literally be beat by any other brawling dessie. Sure you'll put out 300dps at perfect tracking, but who can't hit a slow ass destroyer at brawling ranges? You won't have a great tank, but a decent one, but it's shields which means all of your resists are lower than an armor one.

Sure if you get 20 of them 70km off a button and volley targets it's alright, but then, 20 sniper corms is better.

Who's that riding in the sun?
Who's the man with the itchy gun?
Who's the man who kills for fun?
Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm.

He sleeps with a gun
but he loves his son
Killed his wife 'cos she weighed a ton.
Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm.

A little touched or so we're told
Killed his wife 'cos she had a cold
Might as well she was gettin' old
Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm.

He's quick with a gun
And his job ain't done.
Killed his wife by twenty-one,
Sniper Corm!

Who's that riding in the sleigh?
Who's that firing along the way?
Who's roughing up bums on Christmas day?
Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm.

Who's the tall, dark stranger there.
The one with the gun and the icy stare.
The one with the scalp of his ex-wife's hair!
Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm.

Who's that riding across the plain?
Who's lost count of the wives he's slain?
Who's the man who's plumb insane?
Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm, Sniper Corm.

He's a durn good pa, but he hates the law.
He's likes to eat it raw, He's Sniper Corm!

Corax is about alpha, not DPS. Put 280s on a Thrasher. Load it with RF EMP. Now imagine that alpha going out to 50km and hitting perfectly. A plain Jane Atron with MWD would have to exceed 5423 m/s before my 1669 alpha would be reduced via sig tanking. That is with Fury Scourge. With Faction lights the speed to beat is 11283 m/s. That is lol as the missiles only go 8.5k m/s. In other words if I connect I'm ignoring your skirmish links.

That's my fit. Slightly more tanky. Can take out a dual-rep Breacher if you overload all the things and don't clue him in that you have a point till he's run out of ASB charges (because of slow). The key, for the dullards, is in the rigs. Perfect alpha, great damage projection (32km Jav roflkets FTW) and supreme engagability.

And, dear Colt Blackhawk, you are right of course. However, you'll be glad to know I whipped your Condor in my Vigil without links. There are a few honest souls out there, hidden amongst the hordes of pro elite PVPers, trapping Condors into fights they simply cannot win.

Sure, if you start 50km away from someone. But you don't. You start 30km away. And then he OH MWD and burns towards you giong at least 3k. while you lumber up and go 1.5k. (And if you did start 50km away, GL keeping a point on him)

Again, talking solo here, unless you're fighting untanked frigates, they're gonna catch you and eat you up. Alpha means nothing when you're the only person shooting.

It's more about the pod then the ship. Try fitting the fit in my loss mail above in EFT. You'll notice something. It works for me. Hitting targets for 1k+ after resists every 5.43 seconds makes me happy.

I did the solo thing for quite some time....

What I found is that about 40% of "soloers" use links. Links that make tristans tank 300 dps with one SAAR while dual webbed. Links that make kiting ships completely un-catchable.

The other 40% fly faction frigs to counter the people who use links, or set traps with friends, or use ridiculously expensive implants like mid-hi grade snakes.

Then there are 20% or so who actually fly solo t1 frigates without all the other BS.

Experiences do differ but for me in the past month ive only come across one person that i knew for sure using links and that was in Akidagi which is a busy low-sec system bordering on high-sec. I use navy faction ships but ive been beaten many a time by a well skilled pilot in a t1 ship.

Overall im pleasantly surprised how viable the soloing still is in FW areas. I mean its never going to be easy but its far from impossible and still good fun.

To be fair, faction frigs are cheap. I see no problem with bringing a fire tail out solo. Its fun, still beatable by some t1s, and has a nice feel to it. I don't really see using more expensive ships as a problem as long as you're not linked. Soloing in a t1 is still viable, but throwing down and extra 8 mil to have a wider engagement profile is perfectly fair.
