"The first rule of Eve Online is...." I myself have heard this phrase countless times and the "first rule" that follows it is almost always different. So I'm asking all you lovely forum people this: What is YOUR "first rule?"

don't fly what you cant afford to lose, consider every ship you un-dock with as already dead if it does happen to make it back to station think of it as a bonus

I'm pretty sure that "don't fly what you can't afford to lose", or any of the variations, is the overall chart-topper for Rule One.

my only rule is no irl death threats as I don't want to get banned. Rules are a pain in the butt and in general there are just way too many, so have some fun with EVE.

Games have rules, it's the very definition of the game. Rules tell you how have to play the game. If game engine won't allow you some activity because game designers don't think it's appropritate for their game - you won't be able to do it in most cases.
