Mistakes are common, and funny.

There was once a neutral rifter sitting outside of my lowsec station. I was in a coercer.

I thought 'he'll probably dock up, but my dps could kill him in time'.

So I engaged. He was taking lots of damage, but so was I - even more so.

I thought 'wtf? this rifter dude is hitting pretty hard!'.

Then I popped to station guns. Lol

I approve of your PVP learning plan and have sent you 20 million ISK to help fund it.

Why, thank you! To honor your gift I build a nice coercer, named it Degnar Oskolt 1, and joint a little fleet under the commando of Azda Ja in low-sec. The Degnar Oskolt 1 met its destination in beauty and lit the sky for a moment.

The Degnar Oskolt 2 is already build and will take bloody revange tomorrow!

At the time, I was doing level 4 missions in my Thorax. Took time and was challenging, but the challenge was fun. Then I got The Blockade and got in real trouble by shooting too many triggers and getting shut down with all the damps. I spent a lot of time warping in and out, repairing, warping in and out, repairing and so on before I admitted to myself I was screwed.

My solution was to train battlecruisers 1 and buy myself a Brutix. I buffer fit it with my poor skills and proceeded to do the same thing. Warp to zero (because I didn't know I could dictate my warp in distance, not that it would have mattered with all the damps), kill a ship, warp out to repair. Repeat until it all got under control after several hours.

I was so proud to have un-f'd myself out of that situation with my shiny new Brutix that I couldn't really afford to replace if I lost. The next mission was to go loot Quafe from a warehouse and bring it back. Done many times in my Thorax, it is quick because you don't even need to fight. I decided to take my Brutix just because it was my nice new ship.

So I flew to the warehouse, looted the cargo, and engaged the warp back to station. Considering I needed to align and speed up, I had enough time to decide to shoot the couple of frigates closing in before I got into warp. Which I did. Which spawned more frigates that happened to be within scram and web range. Which they did before I got into warp. They proceeded to orbit me so I couldn't hit them. I panicked and watched my irreplaceable Brutix slowly die.

I never thought to launch the drones in the drone bay. Not that it would have mattered, it was a pretty **** fit with no supporting skills and it didn't take that long to melt.

No real question this time, just perhaps providing you with a laugh.

Can you top this cascade of elementary noobishness?

Just left station to go for some exploration, and realize Im out there with the wrong ship, the Punisher instead of the Magnate. I want to re-dock but then someone challenges me for a duell. Not what I had my mind at, but since Id never done that I think, ok, lets try. I accept the challenge, without any clue how the procedure would be. Id assumed one would talk a bit first, agree on some location to go to for the fight or what ships to use. But no: I am shot at immediately...while I hadn't even realized the name of my opponent. What to do? What to do? Oh, yeah, I should change to the "fight"-tab on my overview. Yeah, something's blinking there. What now? Shoot at it! Doesnt work...oh, yeah, I should lock him first. Im deep in armor already. Im shooting, or at least I think I do. Im not sure, Im not even sure if the thing I see on the screen is my own ship. Oh, I should activate tactical..BOOM. Then: BOOM. My mind gets transfered back to the medical bay.

I say gf and briefly explain why I actually didnt provide a gl. He invites me for another one and I accept, telling him that I first need to buy and fit another ship. I do that, hastily, then I'm out again. Another challenge pops up and I accept. Damit, my guns are not grouped. I fiddle around, but cant group them. F*** it. I lock him....wondering, though, why he doesnt blink this time. Im shooting, but no damage seems to reach him. Should I go closer? Oh............... actually I might have better also put some crystals in my lasers......so much for hasty fitting. I go BOOM. Then BOOM again ...and while my consciousness gets transfered back to another clone I realize I didnt upgrade clone after the first podding. F***.

I still type gf again into the still open private chat and he tells me: you seem to have accepted someone else's challenge. I didnt shoot at you. So appently this time I was trying to shoot at the wrong person with my empty lasers.

Honest to god: I didnt make this up.

Oh, and just realize that I actually DO have a question: My security setting is at green....would I need to change that for a duel in high-sec?

Thanks for sharing, this made me smile. Take some time to read up on pvp online before your next excursion, but its great to see someone having fun getting blown up!

Lame ? Yes. Am I ok with being lame? Yes.

Guess my take on this doesnt matter much so far cause Im just noob, but Id still say this: What I find so amazing and great and immersive about Eve is all these people around....totally different people, doing different things, having different mindsets.

Im on station: I know there are lots of guys on the station right now doing trade, others are manufacturing stuff. Others are in local, trying to get me into their isk-doubling scam.

I leave station and fly around: there is that freighter I pass by, and I know there is a guy flying it, he loaded up cargo somewhere and is flying it to somewhere else.

I land in another system and d-scan. I see there is a group of guys mining belt 4.

I enter a system where factional warfare is going on and I have an idea of what these guys are doing.

I enter a relic-site and I know there can be some guy in there, cloaked, who is hunting explorers like me.

Im reading minerbumper.com and get a good laugh about that part of the game. I read articles at themittani.com and realize that some guys at very high levels are actually playing politics here.

What I mean, is: lame is no category for me. Everybody is doing something, and when Im flying arond in Eve, whatever anyone is doing, it makes me feel that this galaxy is alive, its full of people doing all kinds of things, and if I want to, I can interact with them........even if they dont want that. ;)

Adding alcohol to anything but driving a car is always a good thing.

I think my noobish moment was early on with EVE. I was in a mining mission and just about finished. Some girl messaged me about joining a corp or something and we kept chatting for a few minutes. This was a lvl 1 mission and I was so busy chatting with this girl that I did not see the 2 belt rats engage me. Next thing I knew I was a few ticks left of hull and BOOM. Lost me first ship to a belt rat

Once a noob, always a noob. I myself recently lost a Legion to incursion rats on a gate. They insta-locked me the second I uncloaked, which prevented me from activating my covert ops cloaking device. Not even 5 seconds passed before I was webbed and scrammed. Being cloaky neut/heavy tackle fit, I didn't even have enough tank to make it back to the gate. Only thing I could do was sit back and watch my 800 mill cruiser go up in flames.

Never underestimate incursion rats, never.

(And always be sure to check if there is an incursion currently active in your alliance's/corp's space before moving around)
(Or just don't be bad like me)

- The fake is of far greater value. In its deliberate attempt to be real, it's more real than the real thing.

Ooh, seen a more funny thing in the past when Incursions where kind of new.

I was in null-sec and as we had a station timer coming up we had a fleet going for it. I happen to be in that system already in my stealth bomber (cloaky economical warfare ftw) thus I was the scout.

Noticed the Incursion, noticed the rats on the gate, reported it to the FC. As nobody ever did Incursions etc we didn't know how hostile those things are.

So fleet jumps in (keep in mind, this was close by our home so it was more of a "Best speed" order), and each and every single ship gets slaughtered...

Meanwhile, I was sitting there on the gate tactical, cloaked up, laughing (as I hated the alliance leadership for their inability to do stuff properly)

I once showed someone how to web/scram someone and what the effect of each was. Then I warped back to the station with a timer on me. This was before the whole sentry de-aggro mechanics were introduced. Bye bye Firetail! Blink

We also managed to get a bunch of friendly capitols scrammed on our POS when it went Skynet on us during a big fight. Lol

Once I was roaming lowsec solo and it was extremely calm in my usual area, I was getting sleepy and suddenly discovered a mining op... thinking I struct pirate gold I agressed and was promply CONCORDed. I lost a Cruiser in a 0.5 island I had never been through before.

Play long enough and you will have your collection of stupid moments. As long as others outclass yours, you are winning at Eve.
