Information regarding Low Sec Planetary Populations

I have been roaming a bit around low sec taking in the sights and sounds and visiting various planets for the purposes of writing some accurate fan fiction and noting down climates, gravities, etc, etc....

However I never really seemed to be able to find any information relating to the distribution of systen wide or regional wide population distributions.

I've seen many comments regarding how capsuleers have massive effects of civilian life in low sec regions and while I know it is comparably devoid of habitation in contrast to Empire and High Sec space..... I'm still curious.

Is there any information in game or out of game that might shed some light on this?

Planetary populations in general have never been well-expounded on, including low-sec stuff.

In the long, long distant past when CCP actually rewarded people for putting extra effort into interacting with the game world rather than just gaming it up, the then-young CVA (including what would eventually separate to become PIE) were granted an award from the Holder of Mamet for their operations in attempting to drive off pirate activity in these systems. So, in the Empire at least there are Holders out there and they do hold fairly significant strips of land.

The exception to this is most likely the FW warzone. As the warzone regularly flip-flops control, it is highly unlikely that anyone other than military garrisons, their support infrastructure, and people looking to make a quick fortune are out there - colonizing an area which will most likely fall in a matter of months is not a viable course of action.

If colonists are apolitical and civilian populations are not routinely targeted by faction militias then moderate planetary populations might exist which just accept that control of the system might routinely flip between empires.

While not directly targeted by Militia Fleets consider the occupationist forces that must surely accompany a shift in system wide sovereignty or the cloned mercenaries......I would assume with their advent casualties amongst civilian popluli regionally must have sky rocketed.

While true it does not mean collateral damage caused by orbital strike volleys in not causing a significant amount of damage to civilian infranstructure. Given a great number of battles planet side take place in Research Facilities, Communications Hubs, or Construction and Storage Outposts..... certainly some civilian or minor military personnel must inhabit these regions.....

So it seems like its a little open to interpretation....but of course with figures on the low side...possibly only in the hundreds or low thousands.

I'd assume the FW areas have a sort of a mixed population - a single side taking over a system for two weeks before it's turned back over might mean something in space, but effects of that on the planetary surface wouldn't be as crucial.
When you take into account that each planet has 5 strategic zones where DUSTers wrestle for control on the surface on small scale maps, and compare that to the size of the planet, it's easy to suppose a huge majority of people are not exactly in the line of fire.
Now, let's take into account stuff like capsuleer PI structures and uninvolved third party installations like ndependent corporation and pirate faction ones (Blooders still have a presence in the Bleaks and Angels in low Heimatar), Sisters of Eve humanitarian shelters and such, which are safe from direct harm of the big 4 Navies in the war.
There's certainly a huge number of refugees from those systems, but some people just can't get off those damn rocks that easily. And, life goes on; not an easy life, but... it's lowsec. People are kind of used to living in a sh*thole.
