Why are destroyers so useless?

So besides the thrasher which is the really only decent but not great destroyer why are all the rest so crappy? Destroyers in real life are good sub detection, and able to kill off most frigates in a 1vs1 fight. But here there are not mines or ways to detect stealth along with most frigates can kill a destroyer pilot even T2 so really?

Are you kidding? EVE Destroyers are the *best* at sub detection. Bar none. I use them all the time on PI water worlds.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Yes, destroyers are totally underpowered and in need of a buff.

The Caldari one could use a buff, and honestly I think the Coercer could do with some more native tank, but otherwise destroyers are in a pretty good place.

Yes destroyers clearly need a buff, miners are able to afk in 1.0 systems in almost complete safety from those catalysts roaming around everywhere else.

Really so when you 1 vs 1 a frigate you win? Best I always see about a 50/50 between the 2 even in duels around Jita. I'm not talking about hey join my gang of 5 and lets sit on a gate in destroyers because that works on any ship, join red vs blue watch how hard it is for destroyer pilots to kill frigate pilots and then do some math to figure out hey its about 50/50.

Also look at the catagory of destroyers, Frigates get T1 frigates, Covert Ops Ships, Electronic Attack Ships, Interceptors, T2 frigates were destroyers only get Interdictors, and T1 destroyers? really cruisers T1 have more choices of ship types then destroyers have combine.
